I love Hornfans more than I love my luggage, so im going to not go into bad stuff concerning illegal drug use, though it will be tough. Here are mine...

Some house over by the old Pharmaco between Manor and 32nd street. Im not sure the exact year, but I would have to say around 97'-99'. I remember they had this big tall pole in the backyard and there were xmas lights hanging from it so it looked like a circus tent. Bands played and there was a trampoline in a neighbor's yard that I was doing back flips on.

Pearl Street Coop in the Spring of 92'. Joe Rockhead played, and I didnt even really like them, but I remember they were jamming some song and I was standing about 150 feet from the stage. The singer was looking right at me and singing to me, or at least I thought he was, and I was seeing all these colors and shapes. We were rolling cue balls from the pool table down those long hallways and it was pitch black so we couldn't see the end. I rolled one really hard and it seemed like 5 minutes later it would hit the wall.

Rio House apartments, 1993. I loved this party so much I moved into the complex not long afterwards. There were these things called mini-thins that were over the counter effedrin (sp) and everyone had taken a bunch of them. It was weird because I couldn't pee from them. Once I moved there we would have parties for absolutely no reason. My band Powersquid played one and the music got shut down, but we did play this 14 minute song before it got busted. Great, great time.

The Chaos party. It was in some apartment around 25th and San Gabriel. Everyone chipped in 3 bucks a piece and these dudes rolled a bunch of cigarette thingys and at the count of 3, we all yelled "CHAOS" and the entire party lit them. It was crazy getting all these cigarettes passed to you by 4-8 people.

Crash Worship in a field out in Dripping Springs around 94'. It was sort of like a burning man type thing and you had to pay to get in, but it wasnt so much a show or a festival. Quintron the Amazing Spellcaster opened up and Crash Worship didnt start playing until about 3:30 am. Right when they started, it began to rain so hard it was like a monsoon. They played until the sun came up.

There were so many awesome parties... Austin is a great town for a zillion reasons, but in the 90's, the parties were unbelievable. The Deke house had great parties, empty warehouses, block parties.... every weekend there was something awesome going on. Heck, I even played at this gay bath house with the Fuckemos to celebrate the birthday of this 500 lb transvestite named Laura that used to own the Blue Flamingo. I miss those good times.

Share please.

I think it was around 98 when i lived in the house across the front door from Trudy's. One of our roommates came up with the great idea of passing out flyers on the drag so everyone and their dog showed up. I forgot how many kegs we had but i think everyone from the old Martin Brothers contributed. We decked out the large front room with strobe lights and iirc, Myra Manes brought a fog machine. The band I was in played its first and last show, then Polio, and by the time Myra Manes played, everyone was peaking- louder than hell, i could see the floorboards of the house flex in sync to the crowd in the living room pogoing/headbanging. Soon a future roommate of mine pops up in front of the band butt naked doing some spastic dance, falling over the mics (we later heard the last anyone saw of him was rambling down Fruth wrapped in my roommate's comforter- he also ended up knocking over my stereo in my room).

Pocket Fishermen were suppossed to play but midway Myra Manes set a fight broke out in the kitchen, some dude whips out a can of Mace, and when the police (who apparently were just waiting outside) saw some guy running out the back door holding his eyes, they all came rushing in.

End of party.

So yeah, that was fun while it lasted.

Desert Decadence (Birthday party)

WHO: A girl who knows how to throw a party and has the means to do so.
WHAT: A birthday party themed "Desert Decadence" complete with coconuts (sliced and zippered) containing invitations, to girls washing your hands with rose water as you entered and they wished you "Good Luck Tonight".
WHEN: Early 2000s
WHERE: Compound in Palm Springs with two swimming pools including one with a swim up bar.
WHY: At this point the girl thought she might not ever get married, so she threw herself a birthday party on the level of a wedding, only without adults.

SPECIAL FEATURES: Flaming caldron in the middle of the oversized hottub, Aztec dancers twirling flaming torches around midnight, queen-sized actual bed mattresses around the edge of the pool, large straw mats in the grass among the trees, at least 3 sofas outside, "Beautiful Bartenders" (caterers/bartenders paid to be hot and socialize with the guests), and party favors.

The NASA parties in NYC early 90s. The Catastrophic parties in DC and the very first Buzz parties, early 90s. The parties at the Tunnel, Limelight, Sound Factory, Mars, Robots, to some extent Palladium (though it was all used up by then) and others.

The after parties thrown by the people at the Vault, NYC. This was a bondage club and they had wild afterparties. I would be in the dj booth with a friend who spun there and well, I saw a lot of stuff.

This party where, well, I cannot get into my state but this dude had several poisonous snakes he was messing with and dropped one. That was not fun but the party itself was wild.

Fad Magazine Party and the Project X parties. Club kids back in the day threw it. Michael Alig, Julie Jules, James St. James, Keoki and crew. Decadent to say the least.

The parties at the club I managed called Kindergarten in D.C. wow. We had to pay off city officials, cops and others to have or afterhours. Strippers, escorts, Columbian drug kingpins, their clients (politicians of name not to be named), wannabe's and has beens...all there. Touring musicians, artists (ended up dj'ing Hunter S. Thompsons birthday party once). So many more, yikes. It is good to still be alive.

And people wonder why I don't drink any more than maybe one beer a month.

Any party with loose poisonous snakes has got to be one to never forget. That sounded like some fun times.

I miss the Pocket Fishermen.

My parents had 40th birthday party for this guy that was the Mayor of Plano back in the 80's. Someone brought a chimpanzee and this mayor guy wrestled the chimp. That was wild and everyone was wasted but me... I was only in 6th grade or so.

midsummer's night dream party at the Playboy mansion...

It helps that I look a little like Tobey McGuire

1998

The swimmers and divers used to throw an annual "cherry bomb" party that was pretty fun. I had a buddy that had an annual "Jello Wrestlemania" party that was a blast. Too many awesome tailgate parties to remember. My friends and I threw a huge party at Jefferson Commons once. We decided to throw a party at around 6pm. About 500 people ended up showing up. It was amazing how quickly word got out.

Night of Decadence -- Caligula theme -- Weiss College@Rice University, circa 1980. Fuzzy memories of: Giant bins of everclear punch. Peolple in togas. Giant paper mache penis hanging from the ceiling.

minithins. haven't thought of those things in a while. wasn't a fan as my heart would beat a million times a minute for several hours.

remember the convenience store at 24th and Rio Grande sold a ton of them.

Cupid Party, 1992, D.C.

A friend of mine paid the cops at the D.C. Auto Armory (where they impound cars) and had a rave there. I mean, c'mon. Cops are not going to break up a party in their own backyard!

The lineup (I have forgotten some, of course, but here is what I recall) was:

Moby

Cybersonik

Individual dj sets by: Dan Bell, Richie Hawtin, John Acquiviva

Prodigy (first tour, few knew about them)

Josh Wink

Charles Feelgood

Scott Henry

and many more...ten bucks
