Great, this should be fought with the same passion as Las Minitas.

Way too much "development" going on.

Well, according to the people on this board that support kicking out Las Manitas, if Walgreens brings in more sales tax and property tax dollars then its better for our city than having a local homegrowned business.

I mean, there's a Fuddrucker's less than a mile away to cure your burger cravings.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

There is a f'ing Walgreen's at Lamar and Justin. According to Mapquest that is a distance of 1.72 miles.

Actually, I forgot to mention that I talked to a friend in the neighborhood and he said he thought it was the Frisco they wanted to turn into a Walgreens, not Top Notch.

And here's an article about it in the Chronicle.

Closing the Frisco is even worse. Where will I be able to get a Top-chopped Rancher?

I wonder how many posters here know who & what Harry Akin was?

had a longhorn special, rings, two japs and a coke today just in case

the line was out the door

that was two and a half hours ago and i could do a repeat right now

The Frisco shop is one of my very favorite places in Austin.

Before they go the way of Mad Dog's, do yourself a favor and try the "Size Royal", and a side of slaw.

And the turnip greens are tres splendide.

Ok shoot me now but I've lived in Austin 30 years and never been to Top Notch, Katz's, or Matt's El Rancho. I'm not l-i-v-i-n right I guess

You've missed nothing with Matt's and Katz's, but get to The Notch tomorrow. Please don't tell me you've never been to Enchiladas Y Mas.

I am making it a point to take the kiddos to places like Huts, Frisco, Top Notch on a regular basis. Who know when some fartknocker developer is going to wave a basket of money at the owners and then put up a Walgreens or gas station or bank. Between my home and my Home Depot in Bee Cave there are 22 banks in a 17 mile distance on RR 620. It's obscene.

i went to the frisco shop last night, and had a good burger (frisco plate). it was packed full of old people, all of whom seemed to know each other and the waitstaff. it was greatness.

the couple (i'm guessing in their mid 70's) behind me asked the waitress about the closure and she said that the deal hasn't gone through as of yet. she made it sound like mr. akin, the nephew, didn't want to sell the property, but had gotten a good offer. she also said that if the property sells, he is seriously considering relocation. if they do that, i hope they take that thing down piece by piece and put it up exactly how it now stands.

i'm thinking about going back soon...what should i get?

My favorite Night Hawk/Frisco plate since 1959 has been the Top Chopped Rancher. The only thing that has changed is the addition of Romain to the side salad, and the price.

Never have had anything else there.

the plans for the new Wal Mart on Anderson and Burnet have a Walgreens on the property. Perhaps Walgreens found another spot. I'm hoping.
