Top 25 Rudest Fan Base

The Link

Texas is listed, but explanation only points out our recent lack of success and fan arrogance. I don't see those are "rude" behavior. In fact, if arrogance was a factor, ND and USC should be on the list, which they are not.

Based on personal experience my top 6 rudest fans would be:
1. tOSU
2. atm
3. arky
4. LSU
5. Miami
6. UH

Colorado is not ranked nearly high enough.. and Texas, Nebraska, and OU all on it for essentially the same 'arrogant' reasons is stupid.

1. Arkansas
2. Texas A&M
3. Miami
4. Notre Dame
5. Baylor - Not really bad, but they irritate me.

Arkanasas by far the worst. I think the fans in Little Rock were worse than in Fayettville. You havent lived until you have dodged ice, cups and whiskey bottles thrown at you at the stadium in Little Rock, I guess it's kind of like running with the bulls in Pamplona.

I read about 10 of these and decided the guy first off, hadn't attended many games in person, second, sounded like he'd gathered all of his research by reading internet reports, and third, struck me as rather aggy in his outlook on life. Then I got to this gem under Arkansas:

Arkansas' fans are even bad on the road. A few years ago they played Tennessee here in Knoxville and they were awful.

Also, I attended the 1990 Cotton Bowl as a neutral when I was about 12. Our tickets ended up being on the dividing line. The Arkansas fans were absolutely terrible. I loved the Vol fans.

This guy is an FNG to the scene... Many college football fans are arrogant about their team. Arky in Dallas vs. aggy? Really? No ND or USC on the list?

TCEH. I live in Lubbock (for a couple more weeks anyway), was born and raised here, except for my time in Austin (excited to be going back), and the people here are some of the nicest in the world... Until game day. Then it's like a zombie apocolypse around here. I even avoid my tech fan friends. I haven't been back to a game at the jones since '04 when several Hornfans started the "who's house" chant in the dwindling moments. The wife and I were walking down university ave back to the car after the game, and were cursed and honked at constantly, and one group of drunk idiots actually swerved towards us, lost control and ran he car up on the curb about ten feet from where we were walking before speeding off.

Agree that TT fans at Lubbock are the worst by far. The behavior is beyond rude. You have to almost fight your way out of the stadium and city after games.

Tech fans are number one in my book. Only game I ever went to on the road and was truly afraid afterward that there would be a fight etc as we walked to our cars. Now I didnt go to Ohio State in 05 so I dont have that for a comparison but those who went that I have spoken to speak of it like post traumatic stress disorder victims. A surprisingly rude fan base was Rutgers in '99 and that wasnt a fun walk back to hotel through some drunk locals. The three times I have seen Texas play Arkansas I wasnt around enough of their fans to get a real gauge since that 10 a.m. kick for Cotton Bowl had me still mostly asleep on walk in on Jan 1 2000 and other two were in Austin though the few I did interact with left a pretty bad taste.

Aggy fans are in two groups, the first are those with whom it is a friendly give and take because we interact with them everyday, family members, office mates, veterinarians, friends from school who went to college there etc. That group gives as good as it takes when aggy wins but it is a friendly undertone to it all. Then there are the "internet" aggy who just have a blind unseeing hatred of all things Texas and that hatred fuels an inability to hold rational conversations or talk about anything else except for their hatred of Texas. This is the group that cheers on poop flinging and injuries to other teams players and generally doesnt understand why squeezing is such an embarassing thing. That group rates way up list of crazy rude fan bases with no class at all.

In terms of best fan bases, I really liked the Michigan fans that we interacted with at the 05 Rose Bowl. Classy group, knowledgable and great sports afterwwhat must have been agut wrenching loss. I went to UNC in 2002 and even with the whole "return of the Mack" they were generally really nice too. The NU fans I ran into were always classy though again tis was in the early 2000's before they went off the deep end in their hatred of all things Texas. I have also been up to K-State and we had a great time (of course the fact they they own us probably kept a lighter mood). Ames is also a fun group as was Stillwater at least through 2005 which was the last time I made it up there for a game. Not sure how their recent success may have affected them, I still remember in 99 during my first visit, Texas and Okie State fans in unison chanting OU sucks after the game as we walked out, something we could all agree on.

Since there was no mention of UT malfeasance we can disregard this entire "survey" or
whatever they want to call it. Just one more attempt at getting attention. Move along.
