"We started with a list of more than 250 players combed from studying College World Series record books and newspaper clippings. From that group, 65 were placed on a ballot for voting by seven current and former World-Herald staff members, including two that have seen every series since the late 1950s. Voters were asked to select 25 players and rank them 1 to 25. Players receiving first-place votes received 25 points, second-place votes 24 points, etc. The votes were tabulated, and the winners were tough decisions."

Great job by the paper.

Would like to see the top 25 moments in CWS history by this same group.

Top of my list is Clemens pointiing up at the fly ball to win the 1985 series, and the walk off HR by LSU (Morris?).

...at third base.
Really enjoyed that article, which lets the reader revisit so many special moments from past College World Series games. Some of those players were just that good, and others caught fire at the CWS, exceeding their regular seasons' performances.
Great to read about Burt Hooton's exploits at the CWS, which I had mostly forgotten. I'll never forget seeing him at the old Clark Field, though, amazing to watch in person.
Take the time to read through this linked article, it is a history lesson in the College World Series, well worth reading.
Thanks for finding and posting, EHS.
