What the?!?

Just announced on the news feed of KLBJ 590 that the show that saved us from having another hour of Boortz and was what I was hoping was a foothold to breach the 3-hour mental assualt that is RL, is gone and Todd is getting a 2-week "vacation" and Don is being reassigned to off-air duties.

Did I miss a show where they went sideways with some offensive language?

What a miserable development but I hope that LBJ tries something local to replace it rather than going back to the national feed.

Aren't they the ones who got suspended for the one hour long "wetback" conversation which prompted a threatened boycott of all the stations in the country owned by the parent company by the Hispanic Contractors Association? This group was holding talks with the station, and this is probably the result of those talks, canning the two offending hosts.
Am I correct?
 
Don Pryor deserves to be fired. Todd Jefferies was trying to reel him in during the broadcast, but Don was having none of it.
 
That's what I read about it as well, but the reality is the station is caving in to the pressure put on them by the contractors association, in my opinion.
Whether this is right or wrong, or good business or not, can be debated, but the stations' parent company probably said to just can these guys to end the threatened boycott.
 
i'm sure a boycott would've actually damaged their ratings. boycotts are nothing but small groups with big mouths.

but those guys should've kept their mouth shut. i'm no PC person, but i know better than to use that word over and over and over in that context.
 
The proposed boycott wasn't of this one hick show on a local Austin radio station, it was a national boycott of all the sponsors on every station owned by the parent company of KLBJ. This apparently is a huge Hispanic contractors group, and they swung a big hammer.
These two local radio guys were just pawns in this game.
 
Accurate: You just used the word "hick." I'm gonna call the Hick Contractors Accosiation and League of United Hick Citizens and we will boycott this board until they suspend your sorry ***! There is no room for that kind of languagge in our nation today. It's 2009. I thougt we had moved beyond that. Just goes to show that, while we have come a long way, we still have much farther to go.
 
What's ironic is that several of my Hispanic acquaintances and business associates use that term frequently. Much more so than any Anglos that I know.
 
What is more ironic is KVUE busting those Hispanic Contracter leaders at the press conference for having a video on their website of a Hispanic comedian using a slur bagging on Austin's gay community.

They should all be fired too.
 
I'm just explaining the reality of what happened, not making any kind of judgment about it. The parent company didn't want their sponsors boycotted by a large nation-wide group of Hispanics.
