Any tire people on here? Looking for tire suggestions for a Lexus GS300, 225/50r17. I do not need a tire rated for 190mph. The car has never been over 110mph. For me it is all about the comfort of the ride and road noise (or the lack there of). I was hoping to get four tires and an alignment for less than a $1k. Thanks

Dealership suggested: MICHELIN Pilot HX MXM4

Another option:GOODYEAR: Asrnce Cmft Tread Touring

Go to The Tire Rack (link below) and put in the "parameters" that are most important to you such as ride comfort, quietness, etc for your make of auto and see what they recommend, plus you can read lots of reviews by car/tire owners about the particular tire you end up interested in.

I have done that but I thought I might get some "expert" on here who has first hand knowledge of which tires stand the test of time.

I run Yokohama S-Drives (245/45ZR17) on my Mustang GT and I love 'em. They're Z-rated so they will stick to the road, but they're also pretty good in wet weather too. I got my last set at Discount Tire. I just checked discounttire.com and they're priced at $149 apiece...

I drive a Lexus RX 330 (2005)...when it came time to replace the original tires I looked at The Tire Rack site and the Goodyear Assurance ComforTreds came in 2nd place in terms of quite and comfort for the RX, but first place in actual users' reviews, so that's what I got. They are a very good-riding tire and significantly quieter than the Michelins the RX came with. I would assume that for your Lexus model they would produce similar results. They do have a fairly high rolling resistance, so gas mileage may suffer a little.

Tire guy here. CT's are great, and right now GY is offering up to $160.00 rebate on them. PM if you're in Austin and I'll take care of your mount and balance.

I had Yokohama S-Drives on my 07 TL and they cupped around the edges and were noisy as hell. They were sticky and handled well in the rain, but the noise was too much to handle. Discount Tires said they have this quite often with that tire and they offered 1/2 off a new set with no charge for mounting. I got the Kumho Ecsta Plantinum LX. I only have about 1K miles on them, but they are super quiet and smooth

I asked about the alignment, but they specifically told me it wasn't due to that and that this was a common issue with that tire.
