Tires for Chevy Tahoe

Looking for a little help regarding new tires for my wife's 2004 Tahoe. It's got about 45,000 miles on it and it's clear that we need new tires on it. I don't know much about cars (even less about tires). Any recommendations on which type to get/ where to buy? Any help is much appreciated, thanks in advance.

I am a Discount Tire man as well... nothing but good news on my many trips. Plus, given their store size & the # of bays, I haven't ever been there for too long.

Be careful if you change tire size (or overall ratio) as it will screw with not only your mileage but have the potential to affect your odometer / speedo as well... readings may be off.

dude. Gas is approaching 5 buck a gallon. BF goodrich is a cool tire, but have a ton of rolling resistance. Stay away from the all-terrain tread and go for a street tire. michelin's have as low as rolling resistance as any on an apples-to-apples basis. Unless you're off-roading, AT tires no longer make sense at all. Get a michelin with a good highway tread and save yourself a little mpg.

They have a lot of new/used tires from people coming in to get new wheels on their trucks/cars. I just got a set of tires for my Tacoma that still had nubbies on them for $50.00 a piece. I think they were BF Goodrich or Goodyears, I forget.

Check costco as well.

When I had to get a new set of shoes for my wife's SUV, I found that the price difference between costco and the other tire shops in town paid for the costco membership.

I have the same vehicle, 2004 Tahoe, Z71 pkg. I got Michelin, LTX M/S which I think are way better than the GoodYear Wranglers that came with the truck. I am quite pleased, and I had the same tires on a Ford Exploder a few years ago. They are quiet and smooth running.

Call places and ask for pull-offs. Tires that they keep when someone brings in a new truck to change them out to 20's.
