Tired of misleading headlines

Everything I've seen about the new Big 12 decision says something ridiculous like "Big 12 implements revenue sharing" as if the Big 12 hasn't shared revenue before. The change is that we're sharing 100% of revenue into 9/10/12 equal piles instead of splitting 65% equally and 35% proportionally. I realize that's too complicated for a headline, but there are plenty of short ways to sum it up that aren't twisting the meaning to make it appear that the Big 12 only just now decided to share any revenue at all.

I thought they benefitted the entire time - I doubt they were ever in the bottom half of the conference in generating TV revenue.

Along the same lines, I read an article today about the new Pac 12 TV contract. Apparently the payout starts this year at about $15M per. As with any contract it escalates over time and on average works out to $21M per year (guess it's a 10 or 15 year deal). So the Big 12 may be equivalent to the Pac 12 payout by this time next year when the new Fox Sports contract kicks in (yes, I realize the $9M average in that deal likely starts low and escalates too).
