Parents vehicle had a blowout coming back from CO on spring break...looks like the bridgestone tire just popped and tread came off...damaged back of suburban pretty bad....car only has 23K miles on it and is an 08...question is does GM cover this damage or this an insurance issue?

Just a guess but: insurance. Bummer. I generally buy two and rotate the new ones up front.

Talk to the dealer and see what they say and if they don't make you happy turn it over to your insurance carrier who will then get to decide if they want to go after GM (they won't).

It could have been caused by low tire pressure which could have happened by not regularly checking the pressure or by running over a sharp object.

It's better to buy four matching tires, but if you buy two, make sure they match the other two, or you will have weird road noise problems. Usually you want the two best tires on the front, especially if it is a front-wheel drive car. The front does the steering and the majority of the braking, so you would still want the two best tires on the front.

OK, if you are the kind of person who refuses to slow down in rainy conditions to the point you hydroplane and spin out, put your new tires on the back. In all other conditions, put the new tires on the front, because the wear much more on the front.

took the tire to discount tire today and gm dealer....discount tire said it looked like a defect but to take it to gm first and then if they refuse to do anything they would help file a claim.....gm dealer took some pics and told me he would get back to me tomorrow...my agent who is on here is also checking it out with his claims dept...
