Tipping movers?

I'd give each guy $20.

Two moves ago, I gave one of the guys my tickets for the Longhorn football game that night. (We were playing some scrub like NMSU.) He was thrilled. I never miss a home game, but I was so wiped out from the move that I figured someone else could have a better time at the game. I watched it on TV, anyway.

I tipped $150 on an $800 bill. I also told the guys before they got started that if they took care of me, my house and my stuff, then I would take care of them. They got the picture real quick and did a fantastic job both in terms of timing and the level of care they demonstrated.

I've always found a case of beer and a bag od burgers are much appreaciated. at the very least, buy them lunch.

me and my brother are moving my parents this weekend. i have to drive the fuckin truck which i don't wanna do. how much am is supposed to get?

I own a moving company (for those who don't know) and I can tell you that anything will be much appreciated on any move. If you think they did a great job, on a $200 move, then a good tip is $20 per guy. But like someone else said lunch and cold water or Gatorade are always aprreciated as well. Also, I have told our guys to understand that some people are on a budget and some just simply don't know to tip and to not expect it but be very appreciative if it happens.

If your job is a $200 deal it is likely that it is only going to take 2-3 hours so lunch might not really work for that short of a move but drinks and $10-$20 cash at the end will be plenty to let them know they did a good job. If you hire a company that doesn't have a high employee turnover rate (not saying any names

) then if you move again you can request those guys and they will remember you for it and will make sure they give you the same service they gave when you tipped them... out of respect and because they want another tip.

btw, tropheus...
That is the best thing you can do is tell the guys what they have coming to them. Makes your good movers work that much harder for you and makes some of the bad ones actually care a little bit. If you still get bad service then they don't deserve anything.

exactly, and I couldn't have been happier with the results. The best $800 I've ever spent and the easiest tip I ever gave.
