Tipping at a cafeteria?

We've had several threads about tipping at restaurants, but here's a new angle. I don't eat at cafeterias much, but it never occurred to me to leave a tip there. Now there's a big lawsuit by Luby's employees about sharing tip money.

I leave tips at Luby's, but not enough to hire a lawyer.

If somebody is coming around to my table to ask how my meal is and to refill my drink they get a tip.

That might include the drink cart ady at Luby's if she gives me a refill.

It does not include Sonic, sandwich shops, ice cream parlors, etc...

you do have to tip at Sonic, but some places are getting out of hand like Mailboxes Etc where i went to mail a package b/c line at Post Office was too long. The lady gave me attitude cause I didn't put money in her tip jar for typing in a zip code to see how much shipping would cost.

Former waiter here, I tip a buck or two. Sucky job, but they make minimum wage.
