Tip on preventing bugs entering home

Got a good tip from a home repair person on how to stop bugs (including termites) from getting into the house.

If you have a masonry exterior, most likely there will be weepholes at the bottom of the wall every 2-3 feet. Get some brillo pads, cut to fit, and stuff it into the weepholes. Spray with pesticide. The brillo pad will let the water out seep out (albeit slower), but is dense enough to stop bugs from crawling in.

Brillo pads will rust and could stain your brick or the foundation below the weep hole if it gets wet.

There is a copper wool (just like steel wool) that is made just for this.

there are copper brillo type pads at HEB (S. Congress & Oltorf) that cost under $1.00 for two -- which should be plenty for most homes.
