Anyone else have this service?

If so, you having the same frustrations as me?

No dial tone today at all, had to go to a payphone and call customer service who tells me that they "reset" everything and it will work and service is active.

It still does not work and not sure what to do.

Does the service just go out often?

I had their cable and internet this past year. I had more problems with them and the bills they sent me than anything else I had to deal with all year. I will never do business with them again. I may be the exception but I am still quite bitter about dealing with them.

Guys, I've been in the IP telecom and telephone markets for as long as anyone. If you try and use a cable or DSL-based VoiP service (yes, even Vonage), it's not a matter of if, but when you will have problems. The LECs are used to providing five 9's level of service for voice, and consulers expect it, but the VoiP vendors are working at a 99.5% uptime target, becuase it's the best they can do today.

If you're patient, in the next couple of years, the Bells and national carries will begin to offer a MUCH more stable VoIP phone service at good prices, as well as converged services (phone, internet, cable on the same line). Just be patient.

They finally got it fixed, said modem was reading the wrong IP.

Cheap, but crappy.

Get what u pay for.

that's 99.999% reliability with SBC, etc. That's less than 6 minutes a year the phone will be down. Chances are, you won't even know there's a problem.

TWC's target (and others using broadband for phone service) is 99.5%. That's approximately 44 hours of down time in a year.

That is a huge difference.

Cell phone targets are worse from what I understand.

My wife and I have the VoIP phone and it is AWFUL. Sometimes, a person will have to call three times to get a connection where we can talk. This is great for telemarketers but awful for people you actually want to or need to talk too.

If my wife didn't work for TW, we would be getting our money back, but its free so wtf.

Fat and happy T-W needs some competition... here in Austin, it's not happening.
