I would like to encourage you to go to the "Live Chat Support" over at Time Warner and encourage them in any way you see fit to get the Longhorn Network deal done. That is, if Time Warner is your carrier, and you happen to be in Central Texas. I just did; took about 10 minutes, and I got escalated to a sales rep in Denver, who actually grew up in Houston. So, he understood. Couldn't hurt.

It's so annoying that this launched 2 miles from my house, and I couldn't even watch it without being there in person.

Below is the message I received today from TWC. Note the 6th paragraph.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for contacting Time Warner Cable Email Support. At the end of this email, you will be given the option of taking a brief survey.

I understand you would like us to provide Longhorn Network.

I will be glad to assist you with your concern.

Thank you for your valuable feedback regarding the Long Horn network. Please be assured, we are taking this feedback in a positive way.

Time Warner Cable is having active discussions with ESPN about the Longhorn Network.
We have to reach an agreement with ESPN about the Longhorn Network, as lot of our customer(s) are interested in it.

We surely are expecting positive outcome of the negotiation with the ESPN about the Longhorn Network.

Again, I have added your name to the list of customers who are interested in Longhorn Network. We have also forwarded your feedback to the relevant department to make sure our managment team is aware about our customer interest(s).

Also, would like to inform you that ESPN has announced that Longhorn Network will carry two live football games, as of this time, they have only announced details about one live football game on the Longhorn Network and that will be against Rice University on September 3.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

We value you as a customer.

It's going to take directv, dish, and/or uverse coming on board to force TWC to get serious. Right now, there isn't any carrier options in central Texas for customers to go to get LHN. And, even these new carriers didn't push TWC to pick up NFL network which still burns my butt.

A little different from the NFL Network issue on TWC. This one is about the price to carry. The NFL network is where to carry. NFL wants basic tier where all of the subscribers are and TWC wants to put it on their Sports Tier (which if the NFL would agree the deal would be done tomorrow). The basic tier is the desired tier because all subscribers are counted.

TWC owns a piece of LHN (obviously bought to keep Comcast out; but bought none the less). They are in effect arguing how much TWC has to pay another piece of the Time Warner organization. Of course what is best for us poor customers doesn't enter into the conversation.

Please get on chat with TWC. Because these $8/hr CSR's in India really have a lot of input into these contract negotiations.

I gave in and bought some tickets. I have the waiting game with the providers so I will take in the game live and formulate my own opinion.

I always go to the games, but I also record the games to re-watch when I get home. I don't have any factual reason to determine that this is TWC's fault instead of ESPN's, but if TWC doesn't offer the Longhorn Network by the weekend, I might finally get off my *** and switch cable providers.

Wish I could go. New baby this year and need to be at the house. I am the guy that will pay $30 bucks for crappy pay per view of the game in the past for games like this that I cannot make. Hopefully they at least gives us that option this year. This is the opener.

I chatted with April this evening and all I got was "we are working on this" and "I understand you are frustrated"

Jennifer Williams: Thank you for contacting Time Warner Cable. At the end of our chat you will be given the option of taking a brief survey. My name is Jennifer. Please give me a moment while I access your account.

Daniel_: sure
Jennifer Williams: Thank you for your patience.

Daniel_: sure
Jennifer Williams: Could you please elaborate on your issue?
Daniel_: Are you able to give me an update on the progress of your company to add the Lohghorn Network Channel prior to Saturday please
Jennifer Williams: You would like to check with the availability of Longhorn Network, am I correct?
Daniel_: Well, I know it is not available at this current time. I would like to know if there is any progress on getting that channel added to the lineup prior to this Saturday, the 3rd of September of 2011.
Jennifer Williams: Are you connected to the chat?

Daniel_: Yes
Daniel_: Are you okay ?
Daniel_: Do you need assitance ?
Jennifer Williams: I will be glad to assist you with the information.
Jennifer Williams: We have to reach an agreement with the programmer, and in this case it is ESPN. We have had discussions with ESPN about the Longhorn Network.
Daniel_: Is there any progress that you are aware of to said agreement? Does it appear it may it will happen? Any information would help so I can start pursuing other cable/satelite providers
Jennifer Williams: No decisions have been finalized.
Jennifer Williams: While ESPN has announced the Longhorn Network will carry two live football games, as of this time, they have only announced details about one live football game on the Longhorn Network and that will be against Rice University on September 3.
Daniel_: I understand that no agreements/decisions have been made. I am also aware of the plans to televise 1 football game on September 3rd. What I am asking you Jennifer is if you can give me an update on YOUR companies (which in this case would be Time Warner)progress towards reaching an agreement with ESPN. As a valued customer I would hope that you could provide me with details regarding the negotiation. I dont need to know $ and cents...i would like to know if the deal is imeninent, close, far off, or not ever gonna happen. I would like to given the opportunity to locate an alternative cable/satelite provider by Sept 3
Jennifer Williams: I do understand your concern.

Jennifer Williams: I will transfer the chat to our sales and they will assist you with information in detail.
Jennifer Williams: Please hold while I transfer you over to the other support department.

Jennifer Williams: Take care and have a nice day.

Jennifer Williams: Again, my name is Jennifer. Thank you for chatting with Time Warner Cable. We value you as a customer and are here to assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you would like to take a brief survey, please click on End Session and the survey will load.

Jennifer Williams: Please wait, while the problem is escalated to another analyst
Shiloh: Thank you for contacting Time Warner Cable ECommerce online sales department, my name is Shiloh. What services can I help you setup today?
Daniel_: lets try this....

(so at this point I cut/paste my conversation with Jennifer to update Shiloh)

Shiloh: As of today, only one provider has announced carriage of the Longhorn Network in Texas -- Verizon s FiOS. FiOS is only available in some parts of the Dallas/Fort Worth area. We are not aware of any other major video provider in Texas that has a deal for Longhorn Network. We do have a channel that is similar to the Longhorn Network which is BEVOD. We have had discussions with ESPN but as of today there is no agreement for a date of service on the network.
Daniel_: Do you have ANY idea of the deal is close?
Shiloh: We do not, we honestly know just as much as the public does. We will not find out until we get the email saying that it is available.
Daniel_: I appreciate your honesty and information. The last representative I spoke to 2 weeks ago guaranteed me the deal would be done by now. I guess he was talking out of his **** and not his mouth. Thanks Shiloh and have a good day.
Daniel_: hookem
Shiloh: :)
Shiloh: Once again my name is Shiloh, thank you for contacting Time Warner Cable. Have a great day!

What a bunch of Jackasses, these guys are at work and you think it is funny to harrass them? Do you think they have some inside information? They know less than you know.

You lead poor and pathetic lives.

I am hoping that there will at least be a re play on one of the many other ESPN networks I get on DirecTV. They Include ESPN ESPN2 ESPN3d ESPN classic, ESPN news ESPN this and that, ESPN fu

I think you would more effectively move this mountain by taking it to DeLoss Dodds, who after all is the guy that put this together and is basically in charge of and overseeing every aspect of it.

Does anyone have his email address?

At the very least he can make it available on PPV.

I visited a TWC office in Austin today (Hancock Center) and asked about the Longhorn Network. Amazingly they were quite aggressive and said they didn't think they would ever get it and tried to get me mad at ESPN. They said "nobody has it yet." When I told them Verizon FIOS had it in Dallas and that there were other companies that were getting it they responded that Uverse would never have it and they knew the status of things because they were getting email updates from TWC headquarters.

What was with these people? They weren't saying that "talks were in progress" or anything like that. They just flat out said "ESPN is trying to make everyone pay for the Longhorn Network and that is wrong."

I'm leaving TWC as soon as I can and will go to whoever has LHN first. Please Uverse. Do it.

If this game is not on either (1) my Austin time warner cable, or at least (2) the nearest sports bar to me, I'm going to do bad things.

It sounds like they are angling for position. Would like an alternative to sitting in the hot hot hot stands. I did not see any replays listed either. This sucks. You see they made me curse. Damn!

Unfortunately it is a game. I remember the battle over the local stations and how one was pulled for a few weeks. The same with Fox Sports I believe... or maybe that was satellite. Hell, the carriers always play games during pricing negotiations. I just want my dam LHN. I dislike TWC because they value the new customer and not the loyal customer. That is why I won't subscribe to their service. Unless... they are the only provider of the LHN... then I might have to swallow my pride and open my wallet to be raped at will.

Now that Grande picked it up, I'm going to think seriously about switching. Grande actually serves my market in Central Austin.
