Time Warner Digital Phone Service

Anyone have it? I can get it for $39.95 per month in San Antonio, plus another $3.95 for voice mail. Caller ID, call waiting, and call waiting ID are all included. Works over existing phone lines - this is not voice over cable. Unlimited local and long distance calls. I can keep my existing number.

I currently have SBC for local, and AT&T for LD. My local alone costs as much as the new package. My LD is about $10 even if I don't make any calls, and it goes up from there. I think I may give it a shot.

Nonetheless, I think it really sucks. People sometimes have to call our number 3-4 times to get a connection where both parties can hear each other.

I think you are right. The first aricle I read was misleading in that regard. I've read a bunch more the last couple of days. It uses Sprint's fiber optic network for transmission, but the connection to your telephone wires is via a cable modem, and it is VOIP, though it is an improved version over what I'm used to seeing in this technology.

It seems highly susceptible to prolonged outages. I have never lost my SBC service as far as I know. I will likely hold out for something better.

Yeah, I meant to say earlier that I am waiting also. I am a fairly early adopter, but I don't think the service is nearly mature enough.
