Time Warner Cable - Best Deal

Anybody gotten a good deal by bundling Cable, Phone, and Internet lately from Time Warner Cable? I seem to recall hearing about $99 for all 3 recently with a 2-year price lock. What deals have you been seeing?

I got that deal. It is one of the few deals that you can use as an existing customer - which is nice since lots of the best deals are just for new customers.

The $99 deal comes with a second DVR (we only had one TV), so now we put a TV in the home office (so I can record my crap while the wife records all her Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters, etc.).

How is Time Warner phone? I have their cable but pay $100 a month for AT&T home phone and DSL. Are they reliable? Any issues with home alarms?

I have had TW phone for 53years and no problems. Obviously I cannot use the phone if I lose power but nothing else as an issue. No alarms so I can't answer that

Lazy, let me tell you about TWC's most recent deal.

My cable, phone, and internet (all from TWC) all go out simultaneously about 2 weeks ago the day after my neighbors move out. Did they turn off the wrong house? Hmmm.... I call them, and they say it's just out temporarily. OK, fine. I leave for vacation, and I get back last night, and all three are still out. I am on hold for nearly an hour, before the lady tells me that someone can be out at my house on WEDNESDAY....during an unspecified 4-hour window of time during which Mrs. AV and I will both be at work...to make money...to pay the TWC bill. It's a vicious cycle.

When are you going to invite us all over to watch your cable? Give me a call or emai...actually, better use snail mail.

How about this? Last month our TW cable went out. I called and asked them to check the signal for problems. They told me that they had turned our cable off per my request. I told them that I never called in to cancel service and that I would like for my cable to be turned back on. They argued with me that because I had requested that the cable be turned off that I would have to schedule a date (and four hour window) to have the service technician to come out and turn it back on. I told them again that I never canceled the cable and that I would like it back on now. And now for the best part... they were going to charge me to turn it back on. I told them to get a manager on the phone... which they did, and within ten minutes my cable was miraculously back on. WTF?

They are reactive douches, not proactive customer oriented professionals. They know what they do is absurd and wrong but they do it anyways. And unless people sac up to them and refuse to take their ********, they persist. It is their business model, apparantly. If you are their customer you are a sucker in waiting or of the past. That is how they see it.

Anybody know when their annual "dump the dish" promotion starts? I am sick of not being able to watch TV during a storm, and will be getting something shortly after July 25.

How does one get the $99 deal with 2 DVR's? We have all of those services now, but we're paying more than $99 per month.

Most alarm companies can monitor without any trouble but there are some companies that still have issues with what they call non traditional phone service. There could possiblbly be some problems when you lose power if it interupts your phone service.

Since everyone is bitching about TW... I called them out once to turn cable on in our new home. They "had" to send someone out to "test" the cables first. Basically they wanted to charge me per jack to hook up my cable (we have something like 15 jacks throughout the house). I didn't want to pay for that since the lines were already run, and the house had cable previously, but they forced me to. So the guy comes over, refuses to just turn on the cable, unhooks every cable connection in my home, and leaves. I then called TW back out (after angrily calling Grande and finding out they didn't service our area) and paid to have 3 jacks hooked up (the number of boxes I had). I then had to sit there and re-split the cable to all my other rooms manually, and I had to rebuy all the splitters sicne the first ******* took all the old ones! That was a lot of fun. It really REALLY pissed me off that they couldn't just flip a friggen switch over there and give me my friggen cable.

Now, lately my cable has been pixelating a lot. They've "reset" my boxes, and relaid cable in my yard (which meant digging a trench) which didn't fix anything. Now they want to test the lines in the house, and I know they will disconnect all my splitting. The problem is that the splitting isn't the issue since the signal has only started pixelating recently.

I wish I could have the name of an honest cable company contractor that could help me out, without nickel and diming me to death. It's like a crapshoot when just calling them. Sometimes you get these guys who are total "company men" and others you get guys who aren't out to straight up screw you to get their commission.

i have to jump on this twc bashing wagon. moved into my house march 07. i had my electrician put some outlets in some special places b/c i don't want any cable boxes showing and i put some tvs in some weird spots (swivels and stuff to move around). 1st guy comes out. rewires the whole house (i didn't pay for it, they "had to" b/c the guy that lived here last used grande). i immediately start having problems. 2nd guy rewires the house again b/c the first guy did it 'a weird way'. still having problems. 3rd guy comes out with a team. they rewire for a 3rd time (luckily i'm on peir and beam, so it's not a big deal). they replace my dvr in my living room with some box, with the model number ending with C. oh, to keep everything clean, i'm using hdmi all around. guess what.... only boxes that take hdmi are dvr. so i've got 3 and one regular box. but i have tv now, all working.

first UT game comes around. i went ahead and bought it. had friends over pre-game, then we headed out to the game, figuring we'd come to my house and drink the 2nd half away. get to my house. no cable. everything is resetting. it's up. wait, it all resets again. it's up. the main box in the living room won't power up. i'm pissed. they all reset again. regular box in my office starts working. everyone is piled in. wait... it's all back.

call back on monday. there's a problem with the box ending in C. it downloads firmware but needs manual reset. so when it resets, it downloads more, then needs it again. it's worse than m$.

last month i moved to att. so far so good. my bill is $50 less b/c, as twc tells you, they charge for hd. it's $10 for the entire house. twc charges you $7 per hd box. i have 4 hd tvs in my house. twc also charges for dvr, something like$10 per box. and i have movie channels i didn't have before.

twc is as spare as it gets
