Time to rest our staff

With no midweek games and a horrible Alabama A&M on deck, it's time to give Ruffin, Green, Jungmann, Dicharry and Wood some rest. We have locked up a national seed and need to give Workman, Shinaberry, Carrillo, McKirahan, Stafford some innings. I would still pitch Ruffin, Green and Jungmann, but limit them to 2 innings each, so that leaves the rest of the group to get through the other 12 innings. I could care less about the Big 12 tourney as well. As mentioned earlier, with our RPI, ISR and record vs. top 100, we are set for a top 8 seed even if we do go 0-2 in OKC. Let's get this staff ready for Regionals and beyond. Hook 'em.

I agree with you, TB7. It is time to give those guys - especially Chance and Austin Wood - some time to rest. I would like to see Workman come in both games this weekend for short stints out of the bullpen. With Taylor moving to the starting rotation, it will be huge for Brandon to be able to come in and provide solid relief like he did on Saturday.

Well they are going to get plenty of rest anyway. We have nothing except that Alabama A&M double header for almost two weeks. How much rest do 19 year olds need? A month?

The conference tournament this year means little or nothing to some teams (like Texas) and can have huge implications for others (like Baylor).

It's a good opportunity for Augie to take the team up there and give some other guys substantial innings on the mound knowing that a top 8 is probably locked up.

BTW, as far as Workman, my understanding is that he has been battling some minor back problems that was a big contributor to his inconsistencies. Only prescription for that is rest. Personally, I'd throw him no more than 2 innings (if at all). Love to see him come back in the post season throwing like he did early in the season.
