In the past 48 hours, the now-former TIME managing editor who was on duty when that call was made, Richard Stengel, has taken a job with the State Department. He is replaced by Nancy Gibbs.

This position of a former head of a top news organization/journal, goes along with other close ties to television broadcast networks to the White House. I'd say the President has the press in his hip pocket.

Or some of them. "Morning Joe" on msnbc continues to square up their shoulders to the President, as The New York Times now has been doing. Those two sources are one of the best hopes for standing up to the current administration from the usual Left Side of things.

Hu, it sounds like part of Stengel's job will be to sit around a campfire with terrorists and sing Kum ba yah. I hope this won't cost a ton of $$$$$.
