Tiki Bar in Austin

The other night a friend took me to Oceans 11. To my knowledge it is the only Tiki Bar in Austin. It was really cool inside and adorned with pictures of the Rat Pack and stuff like that. The drink menu is along the Rat Pack line. Drinks are a tad pricy but HUGE and very, very potent. Well worth the cash. I dug it and will be going back.

It is on Red River, the west side, I believe around 8th (give or take a block). My buzzed attention was on the mini-skirted blonde that was kind enough to check my tonsils. Like I said, it made a good impression on me.

Crowded. I went in for a few minutes but the place was too busy. Worth a second look especially if I can get a table. Casual crowd, looked like mid 20's on up. The ratio was decent, talent average.

BTW--Mr. Fabulous was tending bar, is this usual for him?

I went back tonight and once again I left pleased. Great crowd, many a honey and good drinks. If you go with a friend, grab a table early and wait for a group of honeys. Offer to share your table with them...it is a commodity there to say the least. Once they are there, the rest is up to you. Anybody that has been there will vouch on the chances of this working. Plus, you are saving some cutie from having to stand up too long. See, we are nice guys afterall.
