Ticketmaster - reCAPTCHA

So while I was refreshing and not getting tickets for the game, i had the change to pass by this "reCAPTCHA" process for bot security and ticketmaster says that we are digitizing books/texts by going through the process.

So at least we can take pride in the fact that we were doing a public service by retyping these scanned images. I see that NYT is one of the beneficiaries, but does anyone know who (or what other publications) benefit from Ticketmaster specifically?

What I don't understand is, if recaptcha knows that what we are typing it in wrong, that means they already know what words they are. If they know what words they are, what part if any do we actually play in digitizing the text?

Ah, so if you have a difficult word and an easy word you could assume the easy word is the known word, and mess up the difficult one and still get it right. Wouldn't mess with the system though, since they use it on other people but, it does explain why for about 30 of 150 recaptcha's i did this morning, some words I had a typo or couldn't figure it out and just went with it and still passed the test.
