Ticket SCAMS

Just wanted to give a heads up out there. A scam artist based in Miami, FL is ripping people off by claiming to have tickets through his "UT professor father" to the Rose Bowl. He offered the tickets for $400 a piece "on the 35 yard line." He can't make the game himself "because his wife is pregnant with twins." THIS IS A SCAM. He offers a number (it's a Miami pay phone) of 305.672.9328 and asks to be paid through Western Union. He'll even walk you through it over the phone.

Do NOT SEND HIM MONEY. He almost got one of my co-workers to send him the cash. He's trolling on the Houston Texas Exes website and I bet he's fishing on others as well. Be careful out there... if it sounds too good to be true, then it is.

It's just as bad on Craigslist now that student tickets are out, this is worse than the time I tried to get a mail-order kidney from Nigeria...

Be careful in Pasadena too....there are a ton of scalpers with awesome replicas of tickets that are fake. I have heard many stories of people paying $1000 for a ticket in 2006 that turned out to be nothing more than an expensive souvenir.

Outside of the rose bowl in 05, I saw a guy walking around with a sign that read something to the effect of "I was ripped off $3000 on 2 fake tickets"

so heads up.

I saw one of the fake tickets first hand in 2006 when my nephew got taken for $800 on one. It was a really, really good fake. It was only by comparing it side by side with known real ticket that we were able to tell it was fake. Be very wary of buying tickets onsite in January. If a seller won't let you take your time doing a side by side comparison with a ticket you know is legit, walk away.
