Nothing important here except to get a poor me off my chest. Got a ticket going thru Bastrop on way home to Katy after a quick trip to a friends Bday get together in Austin.
Lady said she clocked my at 72 in a 65 coming into Bastrop. Aggravating thing was she says she "had to do 90" to catch me. We were stopped right on other side of that overpass through town, just past the light before going up the hill. So all I can figure is she had to catch me before getting out of her district I guess. Since we were not running from a crime I can only imagine how much more of a hazard she was creating by doing 90 down that road to catch up.
I asked her is she was at a stop when she saw me and she said no. Guess she came up from the side because I sure as heck did not pass her.
Oh well, I knew I was at about 70 so not much I can say. Just pisses me off, haven't had a ticket in about 20 yrs then this one comes along.

I had to bite my tongue during my last ticket as well.

DPS cut across the median to circle around and ticket me for doing 75 in a 65. I opted not to explain the algebra that explained why he had to drive faster than 75 to catch me.

The real insult was that I got the ticket in my mom's '93 Previa since my MX-6 was in the shop.

Milkman, that's exactly what I was thinking. Ma'am you only had to go that fast because you were wanting to catch me in such a short distance/time frame. But I did the tongue bite too.

Where did you get that pic of my car 100? That looks like I would have a real prob KEEPING down to 72.

Interesting too they give you a chart for court with the rates per MPH. But nothing shows anything less that 10+. Guess they round up.

Yeah, sorry you got popped. Bite the bullet and take a defensive driving course. Or try to plead deferred adjudication. Either way though, they are going to get their $$$ out of you but with the two above options your insurance company won't join in on the wallet raping party.

Tx Code - completely agree, 7 over is nothing. But that's what she wrote on the ticket.

Sangre - you are completely correct - the court charge to take the DD class when added to the course cost is as much as the fine!! But to keep of the record for insurance is worth it. I have no idea what the deferred adjudication is?

regards and Hookem

Call the court and ask if they offer deferred adjudication.

Think of it like probation, and since you haven't had a ticket in so long it's a fair bet the court will agree. Just don't get another ticket during your probation period and the first one goes away. No defensive driving needed. If you DO get another you're in deep ****. You pay the first ticket and a bonus fine on top of it, and still have to deal with the 2nd.

The drawback is that some courts will want you to pay more (and significantly more) than the ticket to plea deferred. With others the court charges are about the same. It's always worth it to check before pleading no contest and taking defensive driving.
