Ticket Cut-offs

We called the Longhorn Foundation to see if they had an idea what the Texas Tech donation cut off might be. Of course they don't, and said it will be third week in August. What takes these people so long to calculate these cut offs. They have had donations for 3 months and ticket ordedrs for one month.

Yes - but these ticket orders are filled long before anyone ordering tickets in July and August would receive tickets

No, they aren't filled before August. In the allotment of 4,000 you have administration, guests, players and coaches tickets, students, letterman, band etc. They don't even start looking at that until August. Hence, away tickets are mailed out seperately(sp) and not until very late August or early September.

Take into account you have 2 people manually filling (or not) every single ticket "change" request. This takes practically all summer. Then the same people sit every single person manually for the OU game, another 2-3 weeks or so. Away games are last on the list.

We should have our tickets in our hands by the end of July.
There is no reason to not know the status of tickets by this time.
Think about it, LF deadline was months ago and ticket deadline was early June. Data entry = 2 weeks?
They should have known the cut offs a couple of weeks ago and should be stuffing tickets in envelopes now.
There will not be Neb, OU Tech tickets available beyond LF demand.
The delay by the ticket office gives the perception of being underhanded in doling out tickets to away games.

They have a perfectly good reason for not announcing the cutoff figures until a couple of weeks prior to the away games. They haven't gotten all the requests from politicians, girl friends, brothers-in-law, and lobbyists filled. Other than that, it is a straightforward process.

Here's a wacky thought, the timing for release of away game tickets UT receives may depend on decisions made by that home team's athletic department.

AGAIN, the PRIORITY DEADLINE was early June. In past years I have not paid for my tickets until mid-August. I am not sure when the final deadline is currently but the June deadline was not the drop dead date.

They are still processing Season Ticket orders from past holders and will continue into July.

No they do not know who all the Season Ticket holders are at the current moment. There are still people out there that have not paid for their season tickets.

Accuratehorn,
You are ACCURATE!! Ha!

Other than students(not sure of their deadline), anyone who doesn't pay for their tickets until August damn sure shouldn't be getting any OU, Neb, Tech tickets.Unless of course they are in the group that accuratehorn describes.

March 31 was the last day to cough up $$ to the LF; if you didn't have your $4K in by then, you ain't gettin' Nebraska tickets...

What others have posted is true:

* - For some asinine reason, they do this **** manually instead of using a program a ******* freshman could write

* - More importantly, they want to give politicians, 'friends' of the university, families, etc as much time as they want to decide whether or not they feel like going to a particular game.

What is ******** is that they know that we get (at least) 4K tickets to the big away games and they know how many requests they've received from people who donate to the LF. At the very least right now, they know what the cutoff for (say) Nebraska would be if 100% of those 4K tickets went to LF members who requested them. At a very minimum, they could let people below that level know right now "You aren't getting tix through us, make other plans"...

IDH...I got an e-mail from the Foundation last week that said tickets would be mailed around August 10th. Don't hold your breath for the end of July.

What do your examples have to do with determining priority for out of town games? A simple program can determine the cut off after the ticket deadline.
There is no delay on receipt of funds so they know who has paid for tickets and when, and they already know who paid the LF dues. Easy program.
The LF should immediatly send an email and a refund before the end of June. We can then immediatly start the process of obtaining tickets from other sources.

We are the University of Texas and should do better.
