Who would have thought that the Rangers would outslug the Yankees in the Bronx? The way the Rangers' offense has played dead this season post-all star break, I never would have.
Grilli gets the win and looks amazing in doing so.
I asked for a series win in NY and they delivered. Now we need the same in Minnehaha. If the Red Sox will lose a game or two here and there, the Rangers can still take this thing right down to the wire for the Wild Card. The Angels might be out of reach - the Rangers need to make five games on them in five weeks.
HHD, don't forget we have seven more games against the Angels. Our fortunes against them have been very good, indeed, this season. Our boys aren't afraid of the Angels from LAA LAA Land!
We actually lost the season series to the Yankees.
Rangers vs Yankees : 4-5
Rangers vs. Red Sox: 7-2
Rangers vs. Angels: 9-3 (w/ 7 still to play)
So 20-10 against teams with better records and 51-45 against everyone else. Clearly the Rangers have no trouble getting up for the big boys, unfortunately they just seem to lose a few to teams they should beat. (see Oakland series and those two Minnesota losses)
Hopefully they exact a little revenge on the Twinkies with a sweep this weekend.
And if the Rangers make the playoffs hopefully they don't run into the Tigers.
It was amazing, Horn69! I don't know if Nefti really couldn't achieve his usual stuff, or if he was playing mind games with Cuddyer, but MC clearly expected heat.
Nefti proved he's not just a hard thrower, but a pitcher.
If you've got an iPhone you can watch the condensed game on MLB.com. And I suppose you can watch it on your computer, too. I am surprised it's not included in the video highlights on MLB.com.
