First of all, congrats to LSU, especially their coach who must have had a gut feeling to stay aggressive on the bases. These two throwing mistakes killed us IMO.
Obviously the bad throw by Rupp, but that doesn't happen if LSU isn't stealing.
But then, back to the 9th inning. Our left fielder, defensive substitute correct?, misses cutoff man. ESPN wouldn't show a wide angle, so we couldn't see, but the LSU coach pointed that out in an interview.
All I wanted, and expected, was a play at the plate. So why does our defensive substitute in left miss the cut off man? Remember there were LSU men at first and third when he hits the double.
Hit the cutoff man, great throw to the plate and the game might have ended, 6-5.
Bottom line, LSU coach outcoached Augie on the bases, for sure.
