I just turned over to see a few bits during bowl game commercials. Guy just put some brown sugar (I HATE sweet BBQ) on some pig ribs and threw them in an OVEN @ 500 degrees..... and calls that BBQ? What in the world!? I just don't get that... Then he makes some pulled pork sandwiches.... sounds good... till he puts slaw all OVER the sandwiches!!! What is going on?

Evidently, he things that all grilling is BBQing..... I encountered that problem when I was in Chicago. They thought they were BBQing hamburgers. lol.

Bobby Flay rules

what the **** is wrong with good slaw? I've had it on a sandwich and it tasted great

vinegar slaw on pulled pork sandwiches is standard carolina que, regional fare

bbq in different places means different things

but everyone knows texas bbq is the best

I am Texas proud, Texas first, and am not interested in cabbage on my meat. And yea, I heard that in Carolina they will put slaw on just about any sandwich including hamburgers.... seems really odd if you ask me.

I am currently in the Killeen area, Gakfoo. btw, I have enjoyed many of your posts and the culinary knowledge you possess. Bobby Flay is of course a NYC guy and always tries to be a bit too fancy for my tastes. He went against Tony Luke in a Philly Cheesesteak challenge and he went in with a ton of ingredients to out 'gourmet' Tony.

After a stint in the Carolinas, I got hooked on various types of sandwiches with slaw on them. Now, I do it to offer variety to otherwise common food here in Texas, such as hamburgers. Some like it, some don't, but next time you're making a hamburger and want to try something new (especially in the summer when the cold slaw contrasts against the hot pattie), I recommend it.

slaw on pulled pork tastes great, if you don't like it, well get over yourself and move on. it's not like putting ketchup on steak, and even then, who cares?
