I'm traveling this week but we've set it to record for later viewing. I love this stuff, especially since I've recently finished Walter Isaacson's biography on Einstein. Highly recommended reading.

It's weird, but I never was much interested in science when I was younger, I guess because I never fully appreciated what a mind-blowing thing our universe is. Can't wait to see this series.

Speaking of ... we recently watched several (not all) episodes of Carl Sagan's Cosmos, which I think was done around 1980. Even after three decades that show is fantastic. Sagan was so brilliant, and passionate about his field. Check out his book The Varieties of Scientific Experience sometime -- a play on William James' classic Varieties of Religious Experience. Excellent reading from a master.

Sagan's Cosmos is a classic and like you say, timeless - especially when you're talking about billions of years.

Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking that immediately precedes this show is pretty good also.

Cosmos is available on NetFlix as a "Watch It Now" stream.

I watched the whole series at work some months back.

Needless to say, I loved it.
