Thrilled Horns have Howell and Johnson

I am thrilled that the Horns have Howell and Johnson- both of them may turn out to be better players than the one that got away. They want to come to Texas and when it is 4th and 1, I would want DT's who love Texas trying to stop the opposition.

It's McFarland's loss and after reading the recruiting scenario, Texas gain. I sure hope that the weight program at OU turns out to be good, it will be a lot easier for him to recover from all those Mason Walters' pancake blocks. I find it curious that OU can talk about development of athletes- look at Orakpo- wasn't he a skinny kid as a freshman and now......top 15 NFL pick and best DE in America.

McFarland to OU was the best Christmas present the Horns could get. Now about Mr. Tims.....

To me, the McFarland story isn't about a football player. It is about someone trashing the University publicly when they have purportedly not gotten their way privately. After getting 2-3 last year and 2 this year, DT isn't a need position. Thus, getting McFarland was a want rather than a need. More important was an inaccurate article printed in the NY Times.

We're in good shape at DT. From my read, the Lufkin kid and family had their hands out and didn't get what they wanted from SC, Texas or LSU. Maybe OU came through for them, we'll never know.

But the two we got I am extremely excited to have on board. You guys are right, better to have a player that loves the school and state in there in a clutch pressure situation than to have one wanting to shine only for NFL draft or other personal interest purposes.

Howell sounds like a badass. Johnson looks like one. Coach Muschamp is a cerfitied one. By the end of it I think they'll be fine here.
