I haven't been there in a while, but might go see Pans Labyrinth there tonight. I know it has a smaller screen and seating area, but can't remember how small. If people are sitting in front of you, is it hard to see? How is the sound?

I don't really recall obstructed views, and the sound is fine. It's not a world-class theatre, but they play really good movies. It's good to support Landmark Theatres, as they're one of the few theatre chains that supports independent film.

It's not the Alamo, but I like it.

And it's been there so long, I feel like I need to support the place, before it goes away like so many other Austin institutions....

I remember when that place was a parking lot. It's where a few of us crouched behind some cars to watch Charles Whitman shoot up the campus in '66.

Sco, my MIL was supposed to go down to the pharmacy on the Drag to get a scrip filled that day; something came up & it turns out she may have had bad consequences had she gone downtown (they lived in Oak Hill @ the time & it was around a 20 minute trip due to lights & bad roads)...

I remember one day in college getting wasted drinking pitchers with some buddies next door to the theater at a place called Togo's (which I think is now Schlotsky's). Dobie was showing some cheesey 70s porno flick in 3-D so we all had to go check it out. Yeah, it wasn't as good as you might think.
