Thoughts on seeding

Probably a 2 or a 3, but it depends on how we play the rest of the way. We need to at least split with aggy and K-State or we could drop a seed or two. Imo, aggy is the most important game left on the schedule. We can afford a road loss to a good team like K-State, but losing twice to aggy would look really bad.

Really too early to call at this point. We've still got some frighteningly difficult games ahead (@ Baylor & K-State, vs. A&M & OU).

Assuming we win five of our last seven regular season games and two Big 12 tournament matches, I'd place us a 3 or 4 seed. A 2 seed is also realistic, but we'd have to win the conference and perhaps the league tourney to snag a 1 seed, IMO.

Our RPI was #9 before tonight's game. I imagine it will be 7/8 after our win. That puts us at a 2/3 at this point, but there is a lot of basketball left to be played.

In '03, we were a 1 seed with 5 losses, but the field is so much stronger this year. If we enter the dance with 5 or 6 losses, I imagine we will be a 2 or 3 seed based on our wins over Tenn (likely 1 seed), Kansas (likely 1 seed) and UCLA (likely 2 seed), especially considering 2 of those wins were away from home.

as of today...we are a lock as a 2 seed

anyone who even thinks for a second that wed be a 3 seed after that game has lost their mind

hell, Lunardi had us as a 2 seed before the KU game...

I would say a 2 or 3. There is no such thing as a lock at this point in the season, except for possibly Memohis. However, the Selection Committee does move in mysterious ways.

We'd need to wrap up the season with no more than one loss (not counting the conference tourney) to really get a hold of a #1 seed. I think KU, UCLA, and Tennessee would still get the nod over us if we all won out, despite our scoreboard on them. And even Georgetown would sneak a regional thanks to the Big East love.

But, it would probably be a moot point anyhow. Three of our next four games are very tough. Hopefully Mizzou was our annual brainfart against a vastly inferior team for the year.

If we can pull off the perfect storm and finish 30-4 on the year, we'd probably sneak a #1 seed.

Think about this.......

We control our own destiny for not only the Big XII regular season championship but a number one seed as well.

Now I don't expect us to win out but if we do somehow, regardless of a one and done in the Big XII tournament, we would be a number one seed without question.

Wow wouldn't that be incredible if we could pull that off.

UT finishes strong I can see them getting a 2 or 3 seed, chances of a number 1 seed are slim to none IMO.

We must split KSU, A&M. If we have to lose one of those it needs to be the road game. A win saturday will be very tough, but will go a long way.
13-3 will yield a #1 seed.

As long as we can get in the Houston Regional, I'll be happy. We have a decent history with Regionals played in the State of Texas!!

If the seeding was done today, I agree with the idea we are a lock for a 2 and could even get a 1 just due to the quality of our wins.

However, way too much of the season remains to accurately predict our seeding in March. Even with some losses along the way, a 3 is still very possible.

I think this game Saturday in Waco is huge for us. Playing a good team on the road in between playing Kansas and A&M is going to be tough. A win gives us a very good chance to go at least 13-3 in the conference which should solidify at least a 3.

The impressive win last night gives this squad an obtainable goal in the form of a rather elusive Big XII regular season championship. Just win baby. Teh rest will take care of itself.
