1. Starting 5 was solid, but we're going to have some serious problems against good teams. Wangmene might as well never touch the ball in the offensive zone.

2. Holmes and McClellan need more "presence." When they played well, they played well. But the rest of the time, they were wasting space out there. If they "played well" 100 percent of the time, we could be a favorite in this conference. But they shouldn't be standing around on offense all other possessions. McClellan will hit better shots as the season goes on.

3. Not sure what Lewis's deal is, but he needs to tone it down. He gave those petty "meeee?" looks every time a ref blew a whistle, and his tats don't soften his image. If he's going to thug it up, he needs to go all out. When he found his stroke in the 2nd half, I thought he looked a lot better. He'll learn how to lead by example and not by jacking up shots.

4. Kabongo looked like he did in the McD's AA game. Trying too hard to make a pass when he had room to maneuver the ball. I think he'll learn quickly that he doesn't have to do too much to get his assists... especially if he keeps the ball away from Wangmene.

5. If J'Covan Brown needs to make 28 points on over 50 percent shooting and 8 assists every game, we're in trouble.

6. Gibbs looked promising. I think he could become part of that 3-guard lineup to start games if he's the distributor and defender, while Kabongo is the runner into the lane and speedster.

7. Chapman should be starting over Wangmene, and it's not even a close call. There truly is no excuse for a post guy forcing that many turnovers (I know he only got credited with one, but I'm not sure how that is) and missing that many uncontested layups.

8. Bond didn't get much time to do anything with his fouls. I actually thought his offensive foul was a good move by him. I think he'll be trusted more in the next few games to create more offensive opportunities. He looked calm and collected out there.

9. Barnes did a good job getting everyone over to him whenever there was a stoppage to go over the little details. At this point, it's all the team can really focus on.

10. We're going to need a few more early defensive stops than we had against BU. Too many uncontested missed shots that we gave up. Some teams are going to make those. But overall, good D as we wore the Terriers out.

Nice post. I love Longhorn Basketball too. Not quite as much as the Abe Lemmons days, though. Now, those were the good ole days of Longhorn Basketball.

One missed positive is that this was supposed to be a close game. A blowout should be a pleasant surprise.

Any improvement as a team at the charity stripe from last year?

Too lazy to look up the stats.

I don't think Brown's going to score 25 ppg, but he's probably the leading scorer, so 28's going to be an outlier. And they scored 82.... not a big deal IMO.
