Forgive me if this has already been explored, but I don't remember seeing any discussion on here so I figured I would start one. This seems to be a potential place where even those who disagree vociferously might find common ground. From the little reading I have done on Thorium, I am cautiously optimistic that this is a good avenue to pursue. Am I missing something?

Personally, I'm waiting for power from dilithium crystals, but I digress.

Would be curious to see what the Chinese come up with, and also the reasons why thorium-based nuclear energy never made it off the ground in the U.S. (The article doesn't really say).

I was also curious about the supposedly safer next-gen reactor that Bill Gates is working on (also in collaboration with China)...
