Finals of the NHSI today at 1:30 EDT. Findlay vs. Montverde. On ESPN and ESPN3.com or ESPN360. Joseph was a monster in the semis yesterday, scoring 32 of Findlay's 68 points. Thompson woke up in the fourth quarter after struggling in the first half against a team that had two 7 footers.

Joseph played all 32 minutes yesterday.

OK, so that would be 65.5 hours from the tip of the McDonald's game to the tip of the NHSI finals, 67.5 hours from tip of McDonald's game to the end of the NHSI finals game. Sue me.

thompson looking good early. Dribbles length of floor and dishes to Joseph for layup. Still don't want him doing that, but he looked comfortable with the ball. Drive and spin for floater. Basket again on next possession on taking ball at free throw defender slot 1, moves into lane and puts up floater over defender.

Thompson with a steal, drives the length, weaves through traffic, avoids the charge and makes the high arcing layup. Findlay up 10-4. Thompson with 6. Joseph with the other four.

Thompson getting all the rebounds. Posts all hte way under the basket, gets the pass and converts.

Thompson and Joseph each had outscored Montverde before Nick Johnson fouled Jones shooting a 3 with 4.6 left in the first quarter.

Findlay goes group brainlock, turns 16-5 lead into 19-18 deficit, thanks largely to guys not named Thompson and Joseph throwing lazy passes, not staying with their men on defense, committing offensive goaltending, fouling 3 point shooters, and bricking outside shots. Thompson travels on spin move, which didn't help.

Joseph hits back to back 3's to put Findlay back up with the ball and 10 seconds to go in the half. Nick Johnson is getting abused by Clyburn. Montverde doing it with penetration and switched defense to prevent the first quarter non-stop post entry passes by Findlay.

Thompson misses a pair of free throws. The first off the front of the rim. the second off glass missed the rim entirely. Yikes.

And he drives into the paint, kicks out for an open three by Johnson, who then gets a steal, drives the length and converts to cap a 7-0 run to put Findlay up 6 going to the fourth quarter.

Rout being threatened. Findlay up 11 shooting 2 with 5.45 to go. Petrovic with a from another country 3. Steal and break with Joseph converting one free throw.

Thompson with the bulls-eye on him for being fouled.

Misses the first, and finally. . . gets one.

Goes 1-2 on another trip to line. Then hits a pair. Then hits 1 of 2. Finishes with 15 points,10 rebounds, 2 blocks, 5-13 ft shooting, but 5 of the last 8.

Joseph taking over from Johnson to cover Clyburn was a big change in the game.

Findlay coach said Corey Joseph best player he has ever coached.
Better than Avery Bradley?
Yes...in my opinion he answered.

Man, I hope we get him.

I saw the end of the game. Thompson looked really tired... at least, his form at the line was poor, in part because his kept locking the lower half of his body.

I know it's not likely Bob, but even you might be tired if you played 4 games in 4 days.

Thanks for the updates, bierce. I tried to tape the game, but I only managed to get the end when it was already decided.

Joseph's offensive skill set kind of reminds me of JCB, though Cory is obviously much more under control and has more composure. He's also quicker than JCB ever could be. Firmly believe he is essentially a lock for UT, especially with his connections to AB, Tristan, and Myck.

Tristan...eh. He's not a dominant player usually and has a minute skill-set, but he's way better than any big we have other than GJ coming back. Please can we run up tempo next year, guy is one of the best fast-break bigs I've ever seen at that level (though his handle still needs tightening up). I think down the line he could be a Josh Smith-type player, but that's probably his ceiling.

I think it was 3ball who said Sheppard is vastly overrated...couldn't have been a more accurate statement. Dude has no idea how to play basketball. Kind of embarrassing. Justin Anderson looked terrible for Montrose, as well.

Yeah, I saw Shepard at the UT elite camp last season. He spent all his time trying to be a PG. I personally didn't see much from him, in terms of skills. Daniels was MUCH better. So was Zach Peters. Both handled the ball a lot for big men, but they actually made plays....and shots.

I liked what I saw from Tristan this week. I don't think it's unrealistic to expect him to put up the same, if not better, #'s that Pittman next season.

Well maybe he'll play more than half the game so he can take more shots? I'll take 50% on 14 shots before 65% on 6 shots any day

I think it's reasonable to expect Thompson to play about as many minutes in 2 years as Pittman did in 4, if not more. He'd have to average about 23.5 minutes a game to do that. Unless we see a complete transformation from two of Wangmene, Chapman and Hill, Thompson will need to play a lot of minutes as a freshman.

I was talking about the 10.4 pts and 5.9 reb. He will play a lot. He will also be an upgrade on defense in handling pick and role situations, and getting back on D. He will help on offense because he is moble and will be able to run with our guards.

Obviously we will lose Pittman's low post presence though.

Oh I guarantee Thompson will be a massive upgrade over Pittman. I'm worried about losing Damion, but hopefully Gary can continue to step into that role.

No one could be a "massive" upgrade over Pittman.

All joking aside, while I was extremely disappointed with Pittman's disappearing act in the second half of the season, he was a 65% shooter who blocked nearly 2 shots a game, while playing only half the game.

Thompson should be an improvement over the Big 12 conference season version of Pittman. I don't know if he will be that much of an improvement over the stat line Pittman had for the whole year. I don't know how much the offense will try to go through Thompson. I do hope he will be a much bigger force on the glass. Will James gone, he'd certainly better be.
