The longest hitting streak is 58 games sat by Robin Ventura. Could you imagine how difficult that is to accomplish.

There is a picture of Nolan pimp-slapping Ventura hanging at the Salt Lick in Round Rock next to Dell Diamond. I wish I could take it home every time I eat there. It think it is actually signed by Nolan.

Oh boy, one has to feel for Robin Ventura. Everybody forgets everything else about his very nice career, and all that remains is Batman having Robin in a headlock and having his way with him....

That is one of the greatest classics in baseball histoy, and I saw it on live TV.

Shadowdancer and I were at that game, and despite all the great memories I have of Ranger games, that is at the top of the list. Robbie Ventura was a little ***** in college, and he was the same in the pros.

I saw it the way Gem did. No clean punches, no real *** kicking. Sure was fun to watch tho. Kind of like a big brother toying with his smaller, whiney sibling.

Rhyner on The Ticket talked about this a month back or so. Ventura didn't want to go to the mound, it's just that the Sox had made a pact that the next time any of them got plunked, the batter would charge the mound. Ventura had a pledge to uphold.

The Sox were pissed that the Rangers hit so many of their batters over the yrs, they thought charging the next time was the correct response. Asshat Robin was the ***** in the story and this pleases me.
