This One's Personal

I want Purke to go down. I'm a big Rangers fan and to see him turn down $4 million in this day and age is hard to believe. On top of that, he made some disparaging remarks about the Horns when deciding on TCU. Finally, he say's if you don't want him to pump his fist and get emotional then don't let him beat you.

C'mon Horns.... this one's personal!!!!

I do think the match-up of Cole Green vs. Matt Purke favors Texas. I wouldn't be surprised if Purke shows his youth and comes out a bit erratic. Ultimately, it will be up to our hitters to be patient yet confident and take advantage of Purke's mistakes.

It would also hellp if they laid off the high cheese.

What did he say about Texas??

and just saw him for the first time. He already has two of my pet peeves going. That dumbass straight bill and not wearing his cap straight

seriously, is there any rule about the maximum angle the hat can make with your face? that thing has got to be 45 degrees off, why not just wear the thing sideways or backwards?

Here's the Texas comment... it's enough for me to root against him.

"Purke, planning for a possible alternative to pro baseball, took official visits to five schools. But he gave little consideration to nearby Rice and none to Texas, two schools that have won the College World Series in the last decade, the Longhorns twice.

His parents and brother were Longhorns football fans, but Purke was devoted to a rival school — Oklahoma.

"I didn't like Texas football," Purke said. "I always rooted for the Sooners against Texas.""

Well, if he talked the talk and walked the walk, well, we can only shut up! But it will be sweet to win the next two and make him regret it.

Unfortunately the Rangers could not live up to their end of the 4 million. MLB knocked the offer down do under 2.5 million. Still a lot of money, but not the 4M that you think.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that takes exception to the ridiculous cap-wearing. He was wearing it so askew it looked like he was wearing a beret. If I could add another pet peeve to the list (besides the angle + straight bill), it would be the players that wear the hat so faded and salt-encrusted that it looks like it has sat on the back patio for the summer. Some of these clowns look like they hardly even play so I'm guessing they get the caps to look like that by mowing lawns.

Regardless - Hell of a game by Purke. He came as advertised and his pitching style reminded me a lot of Cole Hamels. TCU's next 2 pitchers aren't slouches, but Purke is definitely their most dangerous one. Let's tie it up with Jungmann tomorrow and win it on Sunday with Workman.

Who gives a damn about his hat? The dude can pitch and shame on the Rangers for not giving this Kid more money, he is the real deal and if he doesn't get injured he should have a great pro career. Heat index today was unbelievable and he did not tire until the 8th inning, all i can say is Wow.

The way we failed to score runs in this game, you better start worrying about something more important: like how are we going to win this series. We sure didn't look like the No. 2 seed.

Purke hates Texas, so what?
