I'm old enough that I can remember a time when a story like this would have been hard to write and we'd have worried about embarrassing people. Not that Gerald or his brother Gerald have anything they should be embarrassed about. I do think it's a little sad that marriage and reproduction have so little to do with one another these days. Two parent families are great.
