The shopping mall in the galleria across the street from my office is PUTTING UP CHRISTMAS LIGHTS. I don't know why this bugs me so much. It just does. Sorry to vent.

They are in parts of Austin as well. I saw lights being strung near Lamar and 6th yesterday. I guess the blustery highs in the 80's got them to move before the permafrost set in.

I heard Jesus on a radio interview and He even said it's too early to start the celebration for His 2000ish bday.

Doesn't bother me. In this economy, I can't blame retailers for wanting to get every advantage they can.

Besides, I celebrate Christmas all year, anyway.

I really wish that Christmas weren't associated with Christianity, and I say this as a Christian. An end of year holiday is a great idea, but the degree to which the spirit has been bastardized is an affront to the religious fragment that remains.

Heck I start my Christmas shopping in the summer usually. That way I can spread out the impact it has on my finances. I don't make enough to wait to shop until after Thanksgiving. It's how I've always done it so far.

Lots of people start their Christmas shopping this early. What saddens me about the whole thing is that it sort of takes away from Thanksgiving. The way life has been lately I need the reminder to look for the things that make me grateful. I NEED Thanksgiving. Put up turkeys and pumpkins first, please.
