We need some recruiting news. I officially hate getting 90% of commitments before the football season even starts.

Remember the good old days of endless speculation about what effect this win or that one would have on all the undecideds?
 
agreed. i had a post on Friday i think. oh look i can see it two posts down from this one.

Anyone know which recruits were at the OSU game?
 
This may not be considred news but I saw Evan Washington for DeSoto Friday. The guy is an OT and plays basketball as well. He is at least 6'5 but might be more like 6'6 or 6'7. He was a basketball player first and has good feet. He is a junior this year. I'm sure the coaches know about him. If you get a chance watch him play. DeSoto's offense isn't great but he stands out and is physically imposing. I don't know how good of a basketball player he is but his size is perfect for a dominating offensive lineman. DeSoto should make the playoffs and the first round would be against a team from Belton/Temple/Killeen/Copperas Cove/Bryan College Station area.
 
I'm following Aaron Green pretty closely since he goes to my old high school. Major Applewhite attended his last game against SA Lee.
 
No one is talking about McFarland. He was in Norman for an official when we played Missouri. As far as I know, rivals-ou hasn't mentioned anything about the trip. No way to know if our success is having any effect on his choices...until some report surfaces somewhere.
 
I'll be bummed if what we have/will accomplish on the field this season doesn't translate into one or two of the following committments:

McFarland
Kennard
Kirkpatrick
Jarvis Jones (is he still considering us?)
 
Agree with early recruiting making for a boring season. Also seems HF is behind alot of the "other" free sites with regard to the latest info. Doesn't stop me from checking everyday.

Also, why isn't the latest bada$$ BB recruit mentioned on the recruiting board (maybe I just didn't see it)

The biggest recruiting news has been basketball recently. We are gonna be loaded. We know have 2 5 star,1 4 star recruits for '09 and 2 5 star recruits for '10. For '09 we have #5 overall F Jordan Hamilton, #8 overall G Avery Bradley, and #64 F Shawn Williams. For '10 we have #5 overall F Tristan Thompson and #16 G Daniel Bejarano. Only Shawn Williams is from Texas.

In football it's been slow, but who needs it with the way our team is playing? I'm going predict that we get McFarland, and I'm thinking the news will come soon based on what I'm hearing (next month). Some of the OOS guys we're looking at are tougher, we still have some work to do there.

I am a HS football coach. Yesterday, we played a playoff game in Lufkin. While there, I asked a group of people from Lufkin, including a couple of coaches, what the latest word on McFarland was. They told me that he had announced on Thursday that he wasn't going to LSU, That it was down to UT and OU and they thought it would be UT. I haven't seen any word on this announcement, although I have been busy with the playoffs. It didn't seem like they were yanking my chain but I still have yet to see anything else mention such an announcement. I am sure if there was such an announcement, it would be on here so take it this info for what it's worth. If it was true, it would make getting bounced from the playoffs a little easier to take...
