This better not ever happen in the Drum

What was wrong with the old court? Is it so much to ask to have a normal-looking basketball court?

Of course, the thread title had me wondering if the OP was fearing someone was going to have a small remote controlled model plane fly around inside the arena with a banner criticizing the coaches.

That's intentional? I thought maybe the crowd rioted and wore all the varnish off the surface at a heavy metal concert or something. It looks like a Texas car where the clearcoat has peeled off. It looks like my shoulders after my first trip to the beach each summer as a kid.

Looks like they had some water damage and have been running bumper cars on the floor for a few months.

Nothing wrong with the old court except it's in McArthur Court. The new court will be in the new Matthew Knight Basketball Arena. New court for new arena.

I think its fantastic and innovative. Are they on national TV anytime soon. I'd like to see the finished product in HD. I bet it looks nice when actually in practice.

I couldn't tell that was the outline of trees until the article told me. I thought it looked like a paint monster had vomited in the middle of the court.

You know, I might be the only person who doesn't even notice the floor when I'm watching a game.

Like the old abortion of a floor the Rockets used to have, or the weird parquet that A&M had trying to copy the Celtics. I was always just "watching the game" until someone else would point out how ugly the floor was.

The shading on the computer rendering of the Oregon floor is definitely worse than the real thing. I think I probably wouldn't even notice if a camera angle was positioned on the offensive end of the floor while a team was running a set.

Uniforms I notice during games. Floors... not so much.

Oh, now with that overhead shot I can see it kind of looks like trees. Sort of like a bad computer wallpaper design. It's better than the ugly splotch it appeared to be at first. Those sitting in a gondola directly over the court may be able to tell what it is and really appreciate the design.
