Not surprising that with 8 of 11 players returning, the Horns will return players that accounted for 78.5% of their scoring; 76.9% of their rebounding; 70.7% of steals, 56.6% of blocks; and 62% of assists.

Brit and Kat are the top scorers back at 13.4 and 11.4 ppg. They were the only ones in double digit scoring last season. Kat and Earnie led the team in rebounding with 6.6 and 4.9 rpg averages. The top three 3pt threats return in Kat, Erika and Brit. They accounted for 127 of 354 3s of the 174 of 483 3s taken by the Horns.

The Horns 70.2 scoring average was third in the league. They were second in the league in blocked shots with an average of 5.3 and third in rebounding at 40.2 per game. They were fifth in scoring defense and rebounding defense.

Of the eight returners, six started at least 7 games with four starting between 14 and 26 games. It will be interesting to see who starts as the coaches will be able to mix and match players to meet various needs. Horns will be able to put ballhandlers, shooters, defenders, shot blockers, and rebounders in pretty much any combination they want. With ten players, all will have to contribute. While all can play at least two positions, Kat appears to be the only that play both in the post and backcourt.

At this time, it’s difficult to say that any one player is a lock to start. Brit comes the closest to that designation, but even she came of the bench a few games last season. My guess for the starting five for the first two games, especially against UConn: Ashley Gayle, Earnie Williams, Kat Nash, Brittainey Raven, and Ashleigh Fontenette.

I am sooo ready for the season to get started. Here are my starting five, based on nothing but what I think (LOL) - Gayle, Reed, Kat Nash, B Raven and Fontenette.

I think Gayle and Reed should be twin towers and run plays from the old San Antonio days - Duncan and Robinson. I know they probably won't both start at the same time but I would start them especially against B Griner. Every time she's in the game I would pull out my twin towers and SHUT HER DOWN!

Kat Nash i thihk will emerge as this team's leader and I'm looking for her to make some things happen. For some reason she reminds of a Sue Bird type leader. Solid player, they respect her and her game, hard worker so her teammates respect her and will follow where she leads.

You know I'm a Brit fan - so this is her year to have a "Lindsey Harding" type year. Out of no where everything finally clicks for her and she has a Sr. season like no other. She stacks the stat sheet and wins all types of awards and accolades. And are you ready for this - drafted in the top 10 on WNBA draft day. The all star that we all know she is finally meets us on the court and the fans go CRAZY!!! And more than anything her play is CONSISTENT this year. No mental lapses and she kicks up her defense 100%. O, and she makes a mental note NO PLAYS OFF and she plays BOTH ENDS OF THE COURT.

Fontenette - this starting guard position is up for grabs. Font, Flores or Anderson could be the starting guard. Whoever worked the hardest during off season, has the mental toughness to lead the team and can rain 3's at any given moment gets the start. I say Font because the last game they played I think she got it. I could see it in her eyes. You must work harder, play harder, play smarter, play tougher and overcome the mental aspects of the game in order to advance in the tourny.

Well that's my 2 cents and it's good to be back on the boards. Come on November 13.

Here is my two cents worth, I really think that this team mirrors last years because in my opinion Cokie Reed = Ashley Lindsay and Lauren Flores = Carla Cortijo. So i think we will see atleast 7 losses and thats only due to the fact that the big 12 will not be as strong as last season otherwise it would have been 9 losses. I do think that Erika Arriaran becomes our most dangerous player this season and averages over 15ppg. Hope Reed gives us atleast 14ppg with 10 boards. If she does that then longhorns no doubt go to the sweet 16; possibily elite 8, but only if Reed becomes a big post presence.

Don't forget Earnesia Williams is returning this year. I would expect her to start at least at the beginning of the season if not all the way through. She's one of our most experienced players.

While I can see both Reed and Gayle on the floor at the same time, I don't think they will both be starters come game one. Put me down as having Ashley be part of the starting lineup at Center.

So, for the beginning of the season, I'd say that Brittney Raven is the only definite starter. Whether she starts at SG or SF all depends on who else earns starting lineup spots. Since we have more backcourt depth, I'd say she'll be the starter at SF.

Honestly, in a pinch, we have 5 players who can play PG -- Yvonne Anderson, Ashleigh Fontenette, Lauren Flores, Erika Arriaran, and Brittney Raven. Luckily, they are all versatile enough to play other positions, as well. I think Anderson starts the first game as PG.

We have plenty of options at SG, but I just think Fontenette's best suited for this spot. as a starter

So, that brings us to PF. Honestly, I can see Earnie starting here, or maybe even Kat Nash. Seems like Nash was so good coming off the bench, last season, whether it be at SG or SF. Her height and rebounding ability (and lack of frontcourt depth) will allow her to play some PF, as well. Due to Kat's extreme versatility, I'm gonna say she comes off the bench initially, with Earnie starting at PF.

PG - Anderson, Flores
SG - Fontenette, Kat/Erika
SF - Raven, Erika/Kat
PF - Williams, Kristen/Kat
C - Gayle, Reed

One thing's for sure...it will be interesting.

I'm with Mooooo about PG. While AT was outstanding last season, I see her as more of a wing player. I think the spots are all up for grabs and I can't even begin to speculate as to who the starters will be....and I'm sure they will change throughout the season.

Just shows how versatile the team will be, and that's always a good thing!!!
