Thinking about making a road trip to Columbia

I'm in the military and luckily have a 3-day weekend for Veterans Day. I've never been to any old Big 12 North venues and always thought Columbia would be a good trip (when compared to Ames, Manhattan, etc). So how is the scene up there? If you had to choose a Big 12 road game to go to, would this be on the list? Do the Horn fans usually represent well here? Any good bars in town? Most importantly, is anyone else going that will let me invade their tailgate?

I figure Mizzou will be gone next year anyways, so now's my chance.

Have a son who goes to Mizzou and is a HUGE Texas fan. Went 2 years ago and going again this year. Columbia is a nice town with several bars and restaurants close to the campus. Stadium is small but not a bad place to watch a game. You'll enjoy the trip if you go.

The St Louis and Kansas City Texas Exes always have a joint tailgate set up in Columbia for game day. I had a great time when I was there last. Outside of tailgating, THE PLACE to visit is Shakespeare's Pizza, but be warned as it gets very crowded.

The STL Exes have a page on Facebook and can give you the specifics on where the tailgate will be. If you're coming in from St Louis you can even catch a ride over there with us on our party bus (I think we've still got some space left).

Hope to see you there!
