In light of the upcoming Thanksgiving season, just thought I would start this thread..I am sure someone does one every year but this year let's get it started now....

I am thankful for:

Family
Friends
My Dog
I have a good job that I like
The Horns have had an awesome football season

So.....what are YOU most thankful for?

My health.
My husband, who loves me unconditionally.
My siblings and their families.
My parents, now deceased, who did a pretty good job raising me.
My precious cats.
My friends, some of whom are as close to me as family. They love me in spite of -- and because of -- my faults.
My job, although right now I am very sick of it.
My home, crappy as it is.
My education.
Longhorn sports.
Leopard sports.
That I live in a country where people are free.
The Killers and Dropkick Murphys.
Step aerobics.
Mexican food.
IPAs.

This is what I am thankful for.

For having been born.
For having been born to a place and time that allowed me to benefit the way I have.
My wife.
My kids.
My association with UT
Tex Mex
BBQ
Various beverages
Music
Science
Sleeping through the night

Having a great job in Texas
Having good friends in Texas
Texas HS and college football
BBQ, TexMex, chicken-fried steak, chilli
Shiner Beer

Oh, did I mention that I'm grateful to be a Texan and for the honor of living in Texas?

The Saturday before Thanksgiving, there is going to be a huge pillow fight in front of the planatarium.
Hundreds, maybe thousands of high school & college girls (and I guess boys, but whatever) will be showing up (hopefully in teddies) to engage in the biggest pillow fight I could every imagine.

THAT is what I'm Thankful for this year.

I mean if you can't be thankful for that, then you're just un-American!

OK, so the people aren't in teddies, but I can dream.

-For life itself, a gift of God
-For Jesus Christ; through Him my eternity is secure
-For my wife, sons, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren
-For being an American
-For the gift of good health (surgically repaired and cranky knees notwithstanding!)
-For my home
-For my cats
-For the material possessions God has blessed me with - although none are anywhere near as important as the people in my life
-For the privilege of having served my country in the USAF
-For my excellent job
-For good friends and their interests to share

Any time I start to feel a bit sorry for myself, I remember a sign my Dad used to keep over his desk (wish I had kept it) - "I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet."

I pray that we all will stop to be genuinely thankful for our blessings this Thanksgiving.

I'm grateful for:

**A beautiful and tolerant wife who is basically a single mother of our two children while I travel to Dallas for work each week.
**Two beautiful, smart, and funny little boys who provide endless entertainment, joy, and pride.
**Living in the most beautiful place in the contiguous U.S., being able to have a panoramic view of the big, blue Pacific Ocean, having the best climate in the world (sunny and 70's every single day of the year) and the tremendous amount of year-round golf that brings.
**My education.
**My terrific occupation.
**My football team being so good every year that even a 1-loss season is viewed as a disappointment.

Husband, kids, siblings, parents and in-laws are all automatics on my "CYB" list. (count your blessings) So much there to make me feel like so many problems are trivial when I begin to count them.

Among other things, though:
I am thankful, that after 26 years of teaching, I have a principal who has made me excited and passionate about my job again. I am busting my ***, but I love what I am doing once more!

I am thankful for medical advances. They are taken for granted until family or friends experience them.

I am thankful for the freedom to travel when and where I want.

This is a great thread! Thanks to the OP!

~ That my kids live with me full time. I can not think how I would function if I only saw them on weekends.

~ My Mom. She was the most beautiful woman in the world. I miss her everyday.

~ My Dad. The greatest man I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.

~ My 8 brothers and sisters. They are all great people and I really wish I could spend more time with them.

~ My Army buddies. Mark and Ruben have been there for me for over 18 years. I am blessed that they are able to put up with all my ****..... and it is alot of ****!

~ That I got to serve with some great men in the US Infantry. And that I am able to stay in touch with a few of them.

I am thankful for so much this year:

My wonderful family including my beautiful niece
My amazing friends who are pretty much like family
The new people who have come into my life
My new job which I love
My awesome dog
My new home in Austin
Good beer and pizza (haha...it's true!)
And of course longhorn sports

I'm just thankful for my new opportunities this year that I have been blessed with recently. I'm so grateful that I'm back in Austin. I'm also so grateful that my mom has been strong enough to continue to battle cancer. I'm grateful to spend another holiday season with her more than anything.

Hook 'em!
