Things to like half way thru the Big 12

The contributions of the freshmen: they have made a difference in the depth of the team. They continue to push the vets in practice and help provide a bench that allows for different looks and matchup problems for opponents.

The spurt we saw last season when the team ended up 5-6 after starting off 0-7 has continued with improved play as they end the first half of league play at 5-4. They have an excellent shot to at least match that to end at 10-8. I think they exceed that projection.

Multiple scoring options are available, especially on the perimeter. Nneka is the stable presence inside with Kelsey, Nekia and Imani capable of strong games as well. Chassidy, Brady and Empress have all led the team in scoring. Both Krystle and Celina have also had good games scoring. That makes it difficult to take away any particular player out of the equation when others can readily step up.

Finally, there are multiple statistical categories where both the team and individual players rank among the top. Last year, the opposite was most commonly seen.

I like the team’s chances to get into the NCAAs if they keep playing and improving throughout the rest of the season. They have multiple wins over top 25 teams and should add a few more over the last half of the season.

I love their attitude of not being satisfied with where they are but continuing to work to improve.

Love this comment!!! Babhorn, do you think we can win out the rest of the regular season? I think we can pull through with maybe two close games, and two overtime games. If we stay < hungry>.

RISING.

Here's hoping our coaching staff also improve and learn for the 2nd half of conference play. Halftime adjustments, creative offensive schemes come to mind.

CS, I am hoping that we can sweep the second half. Realistically, I am not sure that will happen. Too many good teams that can go off on any night. I am including us in there. Right now, I am thinking at least 6-3 in the last nine games although 7-2 wouldn't surprise me.

I think 10-8 should be very attainable that basically means we hold serve at home and can even drop the Baylor game while only winning one more road game. I think the next three road games are tossups. Beating OU and ISU on the road will be tough for a team that has not played very well on the road. Ames is always hard. OU will want revenge. We should be able to get a win against KSU but I said that same thing last year. That team is not that good and we should outrebound the hell outta those shorties. I'm hoping we get at least one of those three for two road wins and an 11-7 record. That will be a big improvement over 5-13.

10-8 or better in the league and Coach Aston should be getting serious consideration for Coach of the Year. Right now, I have to think that POY and ROY will be Sims and Davis from Baylor.
