alright, i'm a fairly boring person. i don't really like going out to bars or nightclubs. i go to concerts, yes -- but, i'm not much on the nightlife anymore. lately, i've been trying to get up to houston more for things to do as an escape from school and galveston. i know about the theater district, certain museums, restaurants, and the like... but what are other things to do, places to go, and sights to see?

i go to central market's cooking school every now and then, and i am looking for fun things like that. any help would be appreciated. i'm in houston tonight, so if anyone's got an idea for now or later, please let me know. also, i've hunted around a few sites for houston entertainment, but i haven't found quite as much as i'd hoped. if you could provide anything in that way, it would be a great help as well.

have you heard of the astros? even if youre not a fan, you should check out a game. one of the great stadiums in the country. theres a baseball art museum inside. buy some gear.

i like houston for the museums. the international fest is coming up. dont miss it. also theres an overlook at the port. also a boat tour you can take. the port is kind of cool. not many people think about shipping traffic and whats involved, and how important it is to commerce and the nation. its the 4th busiest port in the country.

The Japan Festival is the weekend in Hermann Park. They have lots of interesting performances and booths and great people watching. They also sell Asahi there so you can enjoy a beer or two while checking out the festival.

Wednesday nights at Agora (on Westheimer in the Montrose area) they have a belly dancing show at 10. It is a really cool coffee house but they also sell beer and wine. I went on Valentine's Day and it was pretty lively.

"an abomination"? this park was designed to look retro. same architects as ball park at arlington. it's a great looking park. i'm not sure what parks you think are more pleasing to the eye, because there are some ugly ones out there. the astrodome had to be tops on the list of ugliest.

I'm sure you've been to the site before, but superunison.com has a link to the old handsuphouston message board. Lots of stuff about shows/exhibitions/gallery openings.

My favorite things in houston: buffet restaurants on every corner and sitting in traffic on 610 by the Galleria
