A plurality of voters think Barack Obama is the worst president since World War II, a new poll says.
According to a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday, 33 percent of voters think the current president is the worst since 1945.

Obama’s predecessor, former President George W. Bush, came in at second-worst with 28 percent, and Richard Nixon was in third place with 13 percent of the vote. After Jimmy Carter, who 8 percent of voters said was the worst president in the time period, no other president received more than 3 percent.

I look forward to the liberal crowd's response.

These polls are predictable and dumb. Each party's base typically says the most recent president from the other party is the worst usually because they have the rawest and most recent contempt for that president. The presidents who invoke the most nostalgia from the base are usually voted the best.

Obama is the worst ever and there probably won't be a worse one in our future.................should we have a future.

As Deez points out, these polls are of questionable worth. A lot of polled people don't know much. I'll bet less than 20 percent of Americans under age 60 could name, in order, the presidents who have served since FDR.

We'll have to look to history for the answer to that. Obama will certainly be in the running and his most serious competitor will be his immediate predecessor, who was very energetic in pursuing policies that have had lots of unanticipated negative consequences.
If I were to rate them how I think history will judge I'd go:
1. Eisenhower
2. Truman
3. Reagan
4. Clinton
5. Bush Sr
6. Kennedy
7. Ford
8. Carter
9. Johnson
10. Nixon
11. Obama
12. Bush Jr.

Johnson and Nixon had serious character defects and unsuccessful pursuit of war in Vietnam on their records, but they had political and foreign policy skills that had positive impacts, most notably Johnson on Civil Rights and Nixon on improved relations with the Soviet Union and China. Nixon's dishonesty had a devastating impact on his party. Nixon and Johnson both presided over economic policies that sent inflation soaring.

Carter and Bush Jr. are very nice, very principled men, just not of the political skill and strategic vision you'd like to see for somebody in that role.

Ford didn't lead for long, but he was a man of competence and good character when the nation sorely needed him.

Eisenhower and Truman made decisions that have made very positive impacts on the prosperity of the United States and policy direction in the free world. Reagan and Bush Sr. won the Cold War and Clinton presided during a brief national foray into fiscal sanity. Kennedy brought a sense of idealism to government and masterfully handled the Cuban Missile Crisis, but his service was brief.

I do believe he has done incalculable damage to the U.S. Damage that will continue long after he's gone. He's the first President who put his country's good second to a higher agenda.

Well that sums up every opinion poll. Bias is a natural human condition and all polls will reflect personal bias.
