The Wire Season 5

Season premier is up On Demand. Spoilers below
----------------------------------------------

A little awkward at first, but some good **** brewing. Marlo going after the Greek?

Also, "Two Quarter Pounders, fries, Mcdonaldland cookies, Dr. Pepper. Thats how your boy rolls right?" Bunk!

sweet looks like the first 7 episodes have been leaked

I don't see it. Under HBO Series the only options are Curb, Extras, Inside Series, Sex and the City, and The Sopranos. I have Comcast cable in Houston. Anyone know what the problem is?

The show has become a bit stale for me.

The repetitiveness is kind of the point (i.e., there is always going to be a crack dealer to watch from the rooftops), but what once groundbreaking and fresh is now redundant. I often felt that I have seen this episode before.

George,

you **** on every Wire thread. we get it, you don't like it, fine. I can see how you're tired of good writing, interesting characters and compelling stories, so go ahead and watch "Deal or No Deal" or whatever else is on TV instead. good day.

Easy Larry. No need to be offended by an opinion that differs from your own. Leave the sunshine pumping to the football board.

The season supposedly builds into something quite interesting but the premiere (outside of the Carcetti scenes) was a throwaway.

When something is classified as the best, it is going to be held to a higher standard.

As a final season, the criticisms will likely mirror some of those levied at the Sopranos' last season. Why is the show focusing "precious" minutes of the final season on issues that have been adequately addressed in previous seasons and characters who have run their course?

time warner in dallas and I couldn't find it. I was not happy about that after seeing this post.

also, I'm still fing pissed about Bodie.

George,

I'm not offended. I'm just tired of reading your comments on the Wire. the fans of the show in this board certainly read every Wire related post, and without fail, you post some comment about how the show isn't really that good, you find it boring, etc.

fine, don't watch it, I don't care. I just don't need you telling me, again, what you don't like.

repetitive, I mean, really? the show is principally about policemen and drug dealers, however nothing else in the show, in terms of plot, is repetitive, at least to my simplistic viewing.

season to season, the wire is one of the least repetitive shows around because they change the focus every season. i just finished watching 4 again, and it's just ridiculously good, and different from the other seasons.

Just watched the season premier and it is what it is. The Wire isn't boring, it's meticulous. Why is a show that for four seasons slowly unfolded every plot and character twist slowly but surely going to change it's formula now? I thought the episode did a good job setting up some story lines for this season. I can't wait for the rest of it.

Just downloaded and watched 5 of the first 7 episodes and the season promises to be a damn good one..maybe the best yet!!

Where can someone that does not have HBO watch The Wire? I've watched the first 4 seasons on DVD and was planning to order HBO just for the final season. Just got off the phone with Slimecast and found out that it's $29 per month. No thanks.

So, where can I go to download and watch Season 5 without waiting for the DVD's to come out?

^^^ i'm not sure Marlo knows that.

But what I think he is really trying to do is go around Prop Joe and steal the supplier (The Greek) so he doesn't have to deal with the Co-op ********.

Yea, seems like Marlo is trying to find a way to get out of the Coop/find a way to get the drugs without Prop Joe.

Not sure how he knew to look up the Russian. But it just goes back to the Prop Joe comment in Season 4 to Marlo about being able to find information from the Clerk's office. And if the Russian somehow still has ties to the greek, then he will be using Joe's advice to steal the supplier.

yeah, no telling how Marlo found out about the Russian, but they obviously plan to make contact or something?

and definitely Marlo is going after the source, he's not happy being part of the co-op, he wants it all.

End of season 4, Marlo had Chris Partlow tail the Greek's #2. A year has passed since then, I am guessing they found out some stuff from since then.

Yea, I forgot he had him tail the Greek, or the Greek's assistant.

I remember he insisted on the meeting, and Prop Joe was worried about Marlo going for his connection.

Such a great show.
