The Who

I can't remeber the last time a half time show was this bad. Ever since Janet they go with older and older bands.

Worst Super Bowl half time show in a long time. I saw a Tweet that said the reason the drummer was getting so much camera time is because he was the only one not connected to an oxygen tank.

I loved them in the '60s but would have liked to have seen a more contemporary band.

I wonder if the network chooses the halftime entertainment? If so, perhaps it had something to do with their songs being the theme songs for the CSI shows on CBS.

i saw the who about 4 years ago at toyota center in houston and they were awesome. i thought the halftime show sucked though.

I thought they were ok. Not great but not bad. At least it ain't hip hop. Plus, it was a safe bet that they wouldn't do anything asinine like justin t. and janet j.

The Who is one of my favorite bands.

I thought the show was a snore. Half the time it seemed like they missed their cues, and it certainly didn't sound like they wanted to be there.

I enjoyed it, especially "Don't Get Fooled Again," the final song. The Who are one of the all-time great rock bands. They have aged, and two original members are deceased, but they did OK under the circumstances. Of course, I don't sit around idolizing gang members with their pants falling off grabbing their crotches that can't play instruments making repetitive bad rhymes like is popular now, so maybe I'm out of the loop.

I thought it was OK. It was exactly what I expected considering their age. It was better than the Stones hafltime show in 2006. Not as good as Prince or McCartney's halftimes in recent years.

It seems like every year, the Superbowl picks over the hill rockers, but I'll take that over allmost any current "pop" music . (Jessica Simpson, Lady Gaga etc.)

The sad part for me was Roger Daltrey missing his lipsync and getting an "Oh $hit" look. Kinda ruined it for me.

I loved The Who, SRV, and the Tbirds at the Dome in '89. I was disappointed last night, I guess, because of unrealistic expectations.

My kids and I loved the light show - and now they sing

"Who are you, are you - who who who who

Yes they are little girls

I was disappointed but at the same time it's understandable. The thing is, I've seen those four on YouTube kick ***, but it was a couple, three years ago. There was a concert in NY City where they just blew the doors off the place.

I didn't think they were lip synching. In fact, I thought that was part of the problem: they were actually playing live... can anyone verify this?

Also, I thought it was a huge mistake to open Pinball Wizard with an acoustic guitar... it was too soft sounding...

The problem is that the Super Bowl needs drama and outsized performances at the half and who can deliver these day's? I'd say The Foo Fighters at Wembly Stadium proved their ability to conquer a large crowd. I'm not sure who else is around other than going back to the U2 or Prince well....

And finally... it's Won't Get Fooled Again" not Don't Get Fooled Again....

bystander, at least part of the show was lipsynced (see my comment about Daltrey messing up).

Also, notice how the camera was nowhere near Roger during "the scream" from Won't Get Fooled Again. That is like THE moment from that song, and the producers knew it.

I do think at the beginning of the set RD was live, but I know I saw the lipsync error. I had to rewind the DVR four or five times. It was sad moment for me, like when you discover a politician you believed in turns out to be like every other politician.

I still love The Who and their music, but I wished they'd asked them do this several years ago.

Agreed, the Stones were worse but that doesn't excuse how pathetic The Who sounded. Obvious question after the performance was The Why?

Janet Jackson really screwed viewers. A little boob on camera and we are stuck with classic rock on the downhill slide. Pure Prairie League next year? Crosby, Stills and Nash?

I doubt your nine year old son saw it or comprehended what he saw...unless you have Tivo and backed it up and slow mo'd it for him.

Your nine year old should not have been watching to begin with. What dumb *** is worried about a kid seeing titty but still lets him watch Janet Jackson perform? Really?

Trust me, your nine year old (I guess 12 or 13 now) is none the worse for wear from seeing Janet's titty. Oh and yeah, it is not much of a leap to assume that my children are capable of evaluating poor taste and ridiculous behavior on tv and my taking them to a strip bar. Get a clue, your kid ain't special and he will spend a life-time sneaking peeks at titties--but you can blame it on Janet Jackson.

Back to the original post, I thought The Who was just fine, and better than most of the crap shown on the half-time show in recent years.

Well, Cedarpark, enlighten me. Your social conservative ******** is tiresome. Just what did Janet Jackson show that sideline cheerleaders don't show every game? You can't name one aspect of it that was inappropriate. You just like to pretend that without your constant vigilance we are morally bankrupt. I will take moral degenerates and shady characters over self-righteous *** pumps any day. You make the world boring and titties are never inappropriate.

LakeErieHorn,

Why so angry? I've been on enough political chatrooms to know your type. You have emotional immaturity problems and I seriously doubt you have any idea about raising children. It's clear that you are a hater and because of that, you have no standing. We need rational people. Your quote above is an embarrassment to any mature adult.

The problem with the Janet Jackson episode was the surprise factor of her breast on tv. The network was fined and it was clear that they went beyond the standards. As a parent, all I want to know is what to expect.
