The Voice

This show, The Voice, is kind of like American Idol I guess. I wasn’t aware of it but my wife told me about it because tonight someone we know was auditioning — a 15 year old from upstate New York named Sawyer Fredericks.

In June of 2012 we went to a homeschooling conference in the Catskills, and Sawyer was there with his mom. Over the course of four days we got to know them both a little, and I just had a feeling we might hear from Sawyer sometime down the road. He was this little kid, not much bigger than his guitar, and he got up and did some Creedence Clearwater and a couple original songs. Very shy and quiet, but obviously a natural talent. It was really exciting to see him perform tonight. I hope he does well.

Talented and charismatic, he's on his way to the top.

I'm not into The Voice, American Idol, or other shows like that but I was surprised he picked Pherrell, or however he spells it.
Do you think he made a wise choice D?

Thanks for sharing that clip. The kid is amazing!

LC, I don't know if he made the best pick for what he wants to do, but I think the kid has good instincts. I have about 45 minutes of video of him performing at the conference in 2012 but I won’t post any of it until I get his and his mom’s permission. His family lives on a working farm and they are just super nice people.

I may have to start watching The Voice. I'm bored by singing shows, in general, but that kid's got "it".

The good thing about the Voice is the contestants are all good. There are no joke ones like on American Idol for
enterainment purposes.

If your not a good singer, you don't get on the show. In the battle round they are in now, they are all talented.
It's the best of all the singing shows. The only problem is just as ABC did with the "Millionare" game show, NBC is
over saturating the air waves with "The Voice."

They have it on nearly full time and even show reruns of the latest show during the days it's not on.
They are going to kill the goose and the golden eggs/voices if they keep that up.

Also, a girl from Sulphur Springs made it to the next round, so I bet Robert Gideon, who we old
baseball people know, could tell you all about her. She's on Blake's team because of he knew where that is because of Miranda and that they go fishing on Lake Fork.

Of course I know all about Sulphur Springs myself and love Lake Fork. As Robert would say,
"That's right, that's right." Being both from about the same neck of the woods we understood each other well.:smile1:

Sawyer is moving ahead in the contest. In tonight’s episode he did a duet of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Have You Ever Seen the Rain, which he also performed at the conference three years ago. His partner was 17 year old Noelle Bybee, a great young talent with a beautiful voice. I really liked this performance.

Congrats to the kid, he is good, I thought the final four were all deserving.

I am partial to this 16 year old that won, a couple of years ago. She was much better to look at, and is from Texas.

D, ask Sawyer if he's in need of a two-bit conga player. I can also do a mean centipede, if he needs a background dancer.
Dude is awesome. :hookem:
