Look for David Michaelis' excellent book titled "Schulz and Peanuts: A Biography. It's an outstanding read, painstakingly researched, & you really discover where so much of the pain & dark humor that filled Charles Schulz's work over the decades came from.

I was reading the Wiki article about the little red-haired girl:

The Link

Donna Johnson, the inspiration for the red-haired girl, dated Charles Schultz for three years. He proposed to her, she turned him down, and abruptly married a fireman. She married the fireman about one month after this first Peanuts strip appeared.

Don't get me wrong: firemen are great. But Charles Schulz went on to become worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Wonder if she'd take a "do over" if she could.
