Anyone recognize the halftime as the halftime performance that the LHB performed at the VINCE Rose Bowl???

Maybe my favorite ever....it certainly helped out Saturday...

Anyone record it?

THANKS, for that...sad part, I was in the top of the upper deck on the 45 and just watched....oh, well...it' was incredible!

Great halftime. Longhorn Band blew away OU band. No comparison. Hope they do more like it. Skip "script Texas."

I sat through the crappy OU show, and then my dad told me to go buy him some more water. I told him when we bought drinks before the game to buy himself an extra water, but nope. Missed the whole show, but somehow made it back for the beginning of the 2nd half.

Thanks for posting.

I didn't see the show but the tradition is that they do Grandioso at the OU game. Whereby they march out and then reverse out on each other military band style. And then they pause all at the same time and yell something ike "Beat the Hell out OU!". And then they continue marching. Is this what you saw? If so that happens every OU game. I wouldn't be surprised if they use this also for Bowl games since their isn't anytime to practice a show for bowl games.

Garth, you are describing the "wall to wall" march, which they always do pre-game at the Texas-OU game. That is awesome, too. Goose, glad to hear we'll see it again. I'll be UDW 50 with a camera! Hook 'EM!!

garth...yes, the pre-game was GRANDIOSO and BTHOOOU!

the halftime was the same 'BEATLES' halftime the band did at the 2006 Rose Bowl...an incredible show...

at the end of "hey, Jude" they transform from the STATE OF TEXAS to BEVO head to LONE STAR to block T....all in between the nah..., nah...., nah....nah, nah, nah, nah, nah-part....

really incredible...look at the links left above...not as good as the upper deck vantage point that I had...but you'lll get the idea...

Best halftime show ever. I went to their rehearsal on Friday at Richardson HS. It's amazing their attention to detail....and doing a move over and over until ALL of them do it right.

The Longhorn Band is truly "THE SHOW BAND OF THE SOUTHWEST"! We easily have the best band in the Big 12. ou only plays one song and they play it over and over and over. A&M's music talent is similarly limited and their marching formations are simplistic. Most High School bands perform more intricate routines than aggy. (But in typical Aggie delusion - they will claim to win every half time!)
...And yes, I am a BAND DAD. My son is in his 4th year in LHB.

Why can't the Longhorn Network show the LHB halftime performance? If not live during the show, tape it and show it later. I mean, I know that would mean that we would only be able to watch Longhorn Extra replayed 4 times in a row instead of 5.

Don't start talking about the LHN and LHB footage - got my hand slapped a couple of months back on this forum for suggesting that very notion. But you have a great idea - I can't tell you how many folks say that they can't make it to the game, but would like to see what was once called "pageantry" surrounding the game (i.e. stuff you can only see by being there, like bands, stadium cheers, the cheerleaders spelling out TEXAS on the field in front of the student section).

Otherwise, you get ex-jocks reading scores to you at halftime and providing "analysis". Or, Musburger blathering on and on about how Stoops hates Harsin and wants to eat his children.....

Garth, I was in LHB and they do have time to learn a show for bowl games. They arrive 2-3 days early to prepare. They learn a show each week on 3 2 hour rehearsals and a pre game walk through.

I was also in LHB and was at the game last Saturday. Also, I recorded the whole halftime show, minus the OU band. I'll see about putting it on YouTube here in the next week or so if I'm not incredibly lazy.

LHB stories: Being on the field at DKR and in the Cotton Bowl yelling "BTHOOOU!" is an amazing experience. Especially in DKR because you get to hear both sides of "TEXAS! FIGHT!" Also, I was on the field after the 2001 Holiday Bowl when we were walking off the field and walked right past Major. He still had that serious look on his face.

Grandioso & wall to wall, from TV is one thing;
the pregame w/ BTHOOOU, from the stands is just too cool... that's when my voice started to go.

Reyhorn, I'll keep an eye out for the video on you tube. Favorite LHB moment, marching into DKR from the band hall before every game at DKR. When I was in, the track was still there. Awesome experience every time.

nwking...
in '73 I was a Drum Wrangler (right-front-puller) and the first person to enter the stadium with the LHB right behind....the initial roar of the crowd seeing that we had made it to the stadium is something I will always cherish...

loved the entrance on the track...
